My mom seems convinced of the fact that 1) Saturn's were the fastest cars on the road and 2) they the company still exists. She kept telling me to look I to them when I purchased my first car, one whose manufacturer exists and I could still buy parts for. I'm pretty sure they weren't even the safest car to drive back in their heyday and all two of them I've seen since 2008 aren't up to today's current standards.
Eh, you can go to Toyota or Honda/Acura for a battle tank that will last forever. The Japanese pride themselves on putting a great product together and when I worked at Acura, I met one guy that got a whole engine replaced for free well out of warrenty because of a goof-up in assembly in the factory. That's quality service
My present experience with Toyota is amazing. They do seem pretty sturdy. My corolla has taken a decent hit on the highway and I cannot tell. However, I do remember talking a dump truck that would not let me merge with my Saturn and it took it pretty well. I did not have it on the dirt road, but I did take it off road at a few paintball fields and it did fine.
I'm a MINI driver so I'm familiar with people trying to cut me off. Luckily I have the Cooper S model with nearly 200 HP that can compensate for slow ass trucks that think size matters on the California roads where speed is king.
All I know is I am not going to upgrade to the Lexus because it seems they have to remove your ability to drive properly when you get one.
They were actually decent little cars when they came out in the late 1980's and at the time their no haggle pricing policy was unique. The problem is GM then proceeded to starve the brand of product and forced them to carry over their same old product unimproved for a dozen or so years until it was just out of date and uncompetitive. They were trying to sell a warmed over small car from 1988 all the way to the early 2000s. That was just too long.
Say hello to the Mustang SUV. Wonder how many of the folks who were excited by the idea of such a thing are going to buy it once they find out that it's an electric vehicle?
A mustang station wagon? That is like a porsche station wagon. They make those too you say? Dear ford, you are dead to me.
Honestly, fuck Porsche too for that bag of ass. And BMW for the X7 with 3 row seats. Why bother getting a sport brand if you're gonna buy a bloated ass shopping cart to haul all the brats who will trash the shit outta it anyway?
I love to mock the family people who get these things and tell them you are not fooling anyone, we all know you have kids.
I was somewhat impressed by the one MINI Cooper I saw on the San Diego Navy base that managed to fit two car seats in the back. And mind you, this was in 2013 before the redesign gave the current 2 door model the automotive equivalent to a shelf booty with how big that is now It did have more leg space than my brother's mustage that he stupidly bought as his first ever vehicle after coming back from Japan with two whole ass kids under 5. Car trips across California were....interesting, to say the least
So much hate for saturn. Mine is 13 years old, has 180,000 miles on it and has had very little work needed outside basic maintenance. My previous car was a Taurus and it needed a new transmission by the time it hit 110,000 miles.
Mind you, I'm not dragging Saturn so much as my mom being extrEEEEEEEEMEly out of touch with the car market. I mean, she thinks Mercedes are well built quality FFS. But yeah, I've heard those cars could last a long time on the road with a little basic upkeep.
I'm sure Ford and Tesla will quickly sue these guys into oblivion. That's what an electric Mustang should look like, IMHO.
There's actually a fair bit of demand for that type of thing. A guy I used to work with has a fairly successful app that you plug into your car computer and plays sounds through your sound system of whatever type of vehicle you want.
People with vision problems really need electric cars to make noise so they know when one is nearby. And car makers have been using the tech on gas powered cars so they sound like they have a more powerful engine.
And it’s got a raft of quality problems. https://carbuzz.com/news/ford-musta...tm_campaign=carbuzz-facebook&utm_content=post
