Anyone plan to do anything about the shit going on in Dayton's Blue Room thread? He's being hounded and pounded in there, especially by El Chup, and none of the staff are saying jack.
IMHO, as long as it doesn't devolve into flaming, people should be free to comment all they want, even if the comments are critical. I haven't seen any flames since I cautioned Anna about doing it the other week. I've never considered that a Blue Room thread should have bubble wrap around it. @gul ? @evenflow ?
I agree with @shootER. I follow that thread pretty carefully, and do not consider the activity there to be over the line most of the time. Yes, people criticize him, but he has not asked that people not offer advice. The criticism seems to me to be something different from trolling or flaming, as it is only in direct response to the things he is saying, and within the bounds of normal conversation.
Which is a contrast with something that >REDACTED< wrote in his Blue Room thread a while back. IIRC, people were trying to give him advice <REDACTED> and he basically said that he appreciated the comments, but that he wasn't writing the stuff in his BR thread in order to get advice. For the most part, people quit commenting after that. I think my Blue Room thread gets more comments than his does now (and I get very few). @Anna : Be sure to redact the personal/BR information in ^this post before releasing it.
I checked his thread, and as gul said, it was all in direct response to what he posted. The Blue Room is flame free, but that shouldn't mean one cannot voice opinions. Fact is, Dayton's lifestyle is, in the most generous definition of the word, unusual of most Americans. A lot of us are just curious as to how it works for them. Now, if anyone expects any change in behavior after posting with him gor the better part of 20 years...well, I dunno what to tell 'em.
