Got out the old NES, the original one. Hooked it up to the the new TV. So I've got 8 bit glory on Ultra HD (4K). I'm guessing that was a combo Nintendo never considered way back then. Even found this!
My son is into retro gaming. He has several old types of systems/games he buys off E-bay and other sources.
Recently replayed LoZ yet again, finishing the second quest for the very first time. That game remains almost perfect. (Emulator only here, sadly.)
I recently did something similar. Hooked up my laptop to my 40 inch TV, fired up my emulators and now I'm playing NES, SNES, N64, Sega Master System, Sega Genesis, and PS1 games on my big screen TV! The earlier games actually look better than the more recent ones. The PS1 and N64 games are kind of a pixelated mess, but still playable. And the emulator let's you play them in 4:3 resolution if you don't mind some empty space on the screen. I was playing A Link To The Past recently. Still a great game!
This is the greatest of the wing commander games in terms of story, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wing_Commander_IV:_The_Price_of_Freedom oldfella you being an airforce vet would like them.
This is on a 65 inch TV, so the pixelation is quite a bit more obvious. And some of the NES games do look better. Some do not.
I have never even heard of 'Commander Keen' until I read your post, I had to look it up to see what it is. So the answer would be, nope.
I could alert the SocJus crowd about this thead... and NES games should be played the way they were MEANT to be played, on an 18 inch tv running at 144p
Let's see, I've had the following systems: Odyssey - definitely had this one early on. Used to place the plastic overlays on the tv screen to play tennis and hockey. I think those were the games at least. A LONG time ago. Intellivision - While Atari was fun, Intellivision was better! Football, Baseball, Hockey (the reclining penalty box player), Utopia, Boxing (the double natural knockout), etc. Was awesome! Sega Genesis - Nothing beat NHL 93! Madden...etc... Panasonic 3DO - 1995 or so - Great system - Road Rash was awesome, Shockwave! XBOX - Tiger 2004 is still the best golf game ever. I have XONE and I still play Tiger 04. Good stuff!
II was better. Jahiera's annoying husband dies of brutal torture offscreen and you get to comfort the widow.
Hoping that beamdog, does a nwn 1 and 2 enhanced edition. You do know they are making an expansion pack for bg1?
