The Sith are gone, and now it's The Knights Of Ren, so maybe it's time for the Jedi to be replaced by a new order.
Since it's a trailer, and stuff in trailers doesn't have to be in order, it's probably something he says while she's talking him into training her, or explaining why he went to go be a hermit following Darth Emo's betrayal.
I'm jonesing over the new trailer. It has a much different vibe from TFA, and isn't filled with nostalgia like the last two movies. It looks kickass, the planet locations look interesting. I'm really looking forward to seeing Mark Hamill as Luke again. Based on this tiny bit of dialogue we've seen, I'm going to go with JJ Abrams' comment that we may see his best performance yet. Oh, hi everyone! LTNS!
I'm starting to think the plot of this is going to involve "unifying" the Force - light and dark sides in balance in one individual, meaning Rey.
Carrie Fisher's spirit will be in the film on another level.... http://www.cbr.com/star-wars-the-last-jedi-carrie-fisher-script-doctor/
Tch, well now Kathleen Kennedy is saying Leia isn't in 9. http://www.superherohype.com/news/395139-princess-leia-episode-ix Now, she could be telling the truth, or Carrie's brother blabbed a secret, and they're trying to cover the secret back up with a lie like JJ did with Khan in "Into Darkness". Guess we won't really know until 2019.
My guess would be that, following the events seen in the PT, Luke has decided that the Jedi Order is too strictured, too apart, and wants to throw this Force thing out to all the People, whether they're Force-sensitive or not. It could also just be an early bit where he's given up on the Order. Would that be a spirit level?
Yes, I think he's given up, and part of the story will be Rey bringing him back. Maybe there'll even be a "If you don't want to be a Jedi anymore, fine! Just train me!" bit.
My nickel is on Ezra Bridger being Snoke, with Mace Windu as a close second. His birthday being the same as L&L's could be a hint that he was the almost chosen one. The frequent temptations to the dark side along with the influences of Maul, the Bendu, and Force knows what/who else could easily have turned him to "Lawful/Evil". Well, that and his name is "Bridger". Telegraph, much?
That would mesh with the "No, there is another" comment as Luke takes off in ESB, leaving Yoda and Ghost Kenobi on Dagoba.
I think the quote is taken out of context. I'll say this, it's a different kind of trailer than say, the marvel movies. They're really holding back, which I like, but it definitely leaves me wanting more and with a lot of questions.
The trailer was cool, interesting, & intriguing. I'm not sure what Luke's talking about when he talks about the Jedi in the trailer scene, but we may just be seeing a very simply picked & cut line, perhaps to deliberately lead us astray. I can't wait. IIRC the release date is 12/15/17? 8 months from today!
My guess is that Luke wants Rey to just go away when she first shows up. She's persistent...and winds up getting a little bit Force-choked. That's why she's on the ground gasping for breath at the start of the teaser. Luke's given up--hence his self-exile--and the first act will be about Rey getting him to give a shit again. She brings him around and inevitable training montage ensues. I think the shots of Luke and R2 with the burning building are a flashback to the Knights of Ren wiping out Luke's fresh batch of Jedi. I expect Luke took a little walk on the Dark Side after that--some of those Knights of Ren aren't walking away--and Luke, realizing his own inner darkness, decided the best thing to do was call it a day and go looking for some answers about what to do next. That leads to the book we see.
I don't know if it's me or not, but when Rey is talking about the the light and the dark, it sounds like there's some faint whispering in the background.
Wow.. that's going to be awesome... yeah... Sabine is looking pretty banged up when they're riding that critter around 0:50 Someone's definitely gonna die-either Kanaan or Sabine would be my hunch-which'll be what turns him.
It sounds like Luke is going to try to end the Jedi/Sith light side/dark side split. Everyone strong with the force shall be united under one banner...to eventually create an oppressive overclass to be rebelled against in episode 10
