So I hadn't heard of this shit before - apparently there's a group of "Christians" who think they have to control the "Seven Mountains" of society in a nation and thus the world: Anyhoo, the rantings of one of these twats (who is backing Doug "Nazi Salute" Mastriano for Pennsylvania Governor) made me realize that there might be a strategy here: Now you may look at that and think he just hates teh gays. But I realized something. A rainbow is made up of seven colours. In the shape of mountains. He's mad that the LBGTQ+ folk appropriated HIS symbol. So my proposal is, instead of doing away with symbols like the Confederate flag or the Swastika, let's reclaim them. Let the Stars and Bars represent something lefty like the Day of International Peace or U2 or something.
Henry Rollins proposed something like this in one of his comedy concerts. He said a bunch of gay fashion designers should make over the top avant-garde runway versions of the Klan outfit, and dress a bunch of the swishiest fey models they can find in them, and have them bust into a Klan parade. That sounds amusing in your head, but the risk of people getting hurt...I dunno. Same with gaying up the rebel flag. Or re-defining "fag" to mean bikers who rev their bikes too loud in your neighborhood.
Like this? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capirote If you read the article, you’ll see that this is where the Klan got the idea from. @Nova has mentioned the Seven Mountain folks before, I believe.
Seven Mountains Dominionism is NOT new, been building momentum since the '70's Right now the lose religious organization that is obsessed with it is called the "New Apostolic Reformation" - one of the few "denominations" that's growing, and arguably they have usurped the structure cultivated by the SBC and other like-minded White Evangelicals built up within the Republican Party. There's a LOT of good information out there - from the political angle, Anne Nelson's "shadow Network" is good on background, Fred Clarkson and Andres Gagne, writing often at Religious Dispatches, will be a good place to get up to speed. They are more dangerous that people like the SBC because they are likely the most utterly batshit crazy lunatics of any religion out there, and yet the GOP dares not cross them.
