Why does it seem like for a female or nonwhite candidate to get any traction at all in a national Republican primary, they have to be batshit crazy?
That question kind of answers itself. What I'm trying to figure out is why does anyone think that this incident will be a problem for Bachmann? It's not as though saying "dirty sluts should die from cancer" is going to cost her votes in a Republican primary. Bachmann's problem is that the press decided that Perry is less crazy than she is for no reason other than that Perry has a penis. Empirically speaking he's every bit the nutter she is.
http://slog.thestranger.com/slog/ar...he-hpv-vaccine-because-they-want-women-to-die Possibly a bit over the top...
Perry is more of a "religious conservative" than Bachman and he loves the vaccine because he is in bed with Big Pharma, so that argument is invalid. As much Perry hate as there is on this board, I thought you guys would be on Bachman's side on this as she rightly points out Perry's evil in trying to force every girl in Texas to take the shot. Perry is just another bought-and-paid for big government statist.
I have no sympathy for anti-vaccine nutjobs. And are you serious? God called me to be a tax lawyer Michelle isn't a religious conservative? Wife of I wish I could pray my gay away Marcus? Those are two religious nutjobs in a pod.
Because I think she'd be an improvement over Obama, obviously. Rather not have to make the choice, but if Bachmann won the nomination I'd hold my nose and cast my vote for her.
In any case, Bachmann is out of it. Not officially, but she's out. Polls show Perry with a commanding lead, Romney as the only other candidate even close to him, and Paul the only other candidate with double-digit support. The latest figures I saw had Perry at 31%, Romney at 24%, Paul at 13%, and Bachmann at a dismal 5%. So everyone can stop worrying about her. She is as irrelevant as Sarah Palin.
I'd prefer Ron Paul, but I'll vote for Perry just to get the disaster called Obama out of there. I don't particularly care for Perry, but Conservatives and the TEA Party would stand a better chance of holding his feet to the fire on economics. If Romney wins the nomination, I'll write in Ron Paul. RomneyCare proved he's no better than the Obama.
Bachmann has the worst record of anyone reviewed by PolitiFact. They find the vast majority of things coming out of her mouth to be lies. Perry has a really bad record too.
I don't care about him being a knob gobbler, the bit about him being a homophobe trying to brainwash well-adjusted gay men into his own form of self-denial is what's troubling.
Well, I've never heard of PolitiFact but based on your endorsement I would guess offhand it's a site that spews leftist bullshit nonstop.
You would be wrong. PolitiFact attempts to sort truth from bullshit and is not afraid to call bullshit on anyone. They do have a Pulitzer Prize although based on your track record that probably qualifies them as a left wing outfit. I'm sure you're not interested, because your mind is already made up, but anyone who's interested in finding a place where the goal is to let you know who's lying should click on this link. http://www.politifact.com/
If Perry gets it, I'm writing in Ron Paul. Perry's proved already that he cares about as much about border security as Obama does. (For a second I thought it would go without saying that if basically anyone other than Paul takes the primary, he's getting my vote via write-in. Romney's a non-entity in my book, and Bachmann is crazy as a shithouse rat.)
It's nice to see that the inveterate liar is doing so poorly, despite the media's attentions. I'm absolutely thrilled. I do wish the same thing was happening to Perry... he strikes me as, if not quite as nutty, as a lot more capable of getting things done, which makes him quite dangerous.
How can you not have heard of it? Both candidates in the 2008 election kept talking about constantly. It's probably the biggest fact checking sight on the web and it is run by a newspaper out of Florida. Both parties refer to it when it says they're right and both try to pretend it doesn't exist when they get caught lying. Thank you.
This. I'm no anti-vaccine person, but forcing every girl in Texas to take it? I don't think this thing has existed long enough to be really certain about long-term side effects. It should be up to the girl and her family if they want to take the risk of vaccine side effects or risk the possibility of cancer.
No. Unless you have a legit medical reason (ie documented immune system disorder) that prevents you from not getting a vaccine it should not be your choice. That kind of pandering to morons is what has gotten us the first whooping cough death in decades, and a host of other diseases once unheard of in America now on the rebound. Even worse is that it's not the nutter's own kids who usually die, but infants too young to get the vaccine that the nutter's kids pass it on to. If only the children of the idiots paid the price I would be more understanding, then's it kind of a darwin award thing. Strap'em down and stick 'em.
Or of conservative bias, depending on who throws them out there and the political slant of the person who doesn't like them.
I'm honestly curious about this comment since under Obama there have been almost twice as many deportations per year as under Bush, there are more border patrol agents with better funding then ever before, and there were more miles of wall built then under any other President. They even have implemented the so called electronic fence. There has also been record enforcement against employers who hire illegals. So what exactly do you imagine he is not doing or is doing worse then his predecessors in this area? I ask because your comment seems to be completely contrary to the facts & reality so are you just ranting about how you don't like the man or do you actually have some real beef here? Right now it's sounding like uninformed ranting.
Er... It was? Anyone who didn't want it had the option to opt out so it's not like the Nazi death camp guards were holding them down and forcing it upon them. I mean I'm hardly a Perry fan but we should confine our objections to things which actually happened. Now the complaint that he was in bed with big pharma and doing it's bidding is completely legit since he was and still is guilty of that. He got several million dollars from just that one company much of it funneled through him when he was head of the Republican Governor's Association. If you noticed in the debate he tried to dodge claiming his governor's campaign only got $X but the reality is he had multiple war chests and just because it went into a different pocket doesn't mean he didn't end up with the cash.

I'm sure that you, like any good leftist, has had long practice rolling your eyes at any source not approved by the San Francisco Chronicle. You're going to work harder than that here.
