Dirty furriner Who fans (Sorry, Tamar :( ) may have to wait on the rejoicing, given this is a BBC website venture and thus tends to block non-licence fee payers...

First ep available for download in June. Screenshots below!

    Oh. My. God.

    That is so awesome.

I'm moving to the UK if I can't get this in Canada.

Hmm... interesting concept art... notice any familiar design elements?

I'm sure someone will find a way to get it to us dirty furriners.

Why should we be deprived of the Who-goodness? :tardis:

First story (City of the Daleks) is now available for download from the BBC site, 330Mb download (1 gig unpacked). Rumours of some lagginess in the game but this may be people running with graphics turned up full.

Not too shabby... First ep has the Doc and Amy arrive in London, 1963 to see the Beatles, but they step out of the TARDIS into a far different London... this one has been conquered by the Daleks, who have altered time somehow. After a brief runaround trying to save the last surviving human (we failed, but this sets up the urgency - Amy's now a paradox since all her ancestors no longer exist), the Doc and Amy head for the source of the temporal disturbance... Skaro!

Played up to the arrival on Skaro this morning, no lag problems so far but having read some comments from other users I immediately downgraded to Medium detail settings. The script is fairly tight so far, and the puzzles simple but entertaining... got exterminated a few times due to catching on scenery but that was my own fault. As a "free" game it's certainly very good quality from what I've seen so far (although the images of the Dalek city were very pixellated, though that could be the downgraded graphics, will try again later at higher settings and see if lag rears its ugly head or not). The lip sync isn't great but Smith and Gillan's voices are clear and the music is fine (you get a little snippet of the Doctor's theme when you complete a puzzle!). The opening credits are recreated fairly well too.

I was held down by Ian Levine last week and sodomized with a toy sonic screwdriver.

    I wasn't enamoured of that.

Not bad. Not bad at all.

The interface sucks balls and the graphics are what you'd expect from a game circa 2006...

...but it's free and mildly entertaining so no point in complaining too much!

Can't wait for someone to hack the game so you can hump Amy.

Finished it earlier... dodging Daleks is annoying, but the last "maze o' death" was pretty easy. Dunno why they didn't give the doohickey the Daleks used to change time the name we all know it should have had...

Apparently, this is a beta release... proper version available tomorrow, may possibly contain (due to some of the sound files seen in the beta release) a Next Time trailer for the second game... Winter of Terror.
