You've done nothing to make a name for yourself around here.

:krieg1981: See, your name doesn't produce any kind of smiley indicating legend status.

:tex: And before you point out that mine doesn't either, as a student of WF history you should already know that I have rejected several attempts at making my user name into a smiley in the past. However :nottex: does work.

Now get out there and be somebody.

This is stupid. Have you all looked at the shelter threads? Unless the mods are making threads that they aren't releasing this whole observer thing is a giant fucking waste of time.

I agree in part. There were like 8 shelter threads released today. Either they're holding them back...or there's a conspiracy. :chris:

Everyone knows that smiley was put up in honor of Lanzman's favorite German DJ, Sebastian Krieg.

Because some issues should be resolved behind closed doors, without everyone getting a look, and then running to the RR to stir up some wank and drama. I'm all for transparency, but sometimes that should be after the fact.

    IMO.

I'm nowhere on that list so it's perfect. I have no idea what precipitated this apparent demand for civilian oversight, but if you have trouble with the mods here on this board you're the one at fault. Really the modertaing here is amongst the most relaxed yet effective I've ever seen.

I agree. Great example of less is best. If I were going to change anything, I'd have shelter releases happen on a more regular basis than they do now, though. That would accomplish everything I can see this "observer" position accomplishing.

I'm inclined to agree. Knowing the Shelter threads will be released eventually lends a certain...caution...to their tone.

Adding observers would only add another level of obfuscation. It's been my impression that the *real* decision-making takes place via PM and is then prettied up for the Shelter, if it even gets there.

As intrigued as I am to find myself on CD's list of nominees, I respectfully decline.

Your impression is wrong. I actually PM the staff very seldom. What you see in the Shelter threads is pretty much all there is, with a few rare exceptions for stuff like discussing a privacy violation.

Oh come on, you know that's not true... half my PM's are from you, and it's like "O2C, rotate the server logs", "O2C, the host says we're running out of space again", "O2C, can you investigate that slowdown?"... if that's not making all the important decisions behind the scenes via PM, I don't know what is.

Serious question, what big bad crime do the mods do/have done around here that really makes this necessary??

We've had the same staff for several years now. Apparently that's objectionable.
