You know I might, just might, have been able to give you some leeway on this, but two for two things:-

    1) You say his sole purpose was to be an asshole and enjoy the misery of others. You know, when you first joined this board you conducted yourself in a reasonable manner. Polite, considered and up for debate. Sure, everyone knew you were a lefty, but then so were others. But you, over the years, have morphed into someone who is rude, taseless, aggressive and often capable of saying some pretty shitty things to others on this board (and I'm not talking about this thread). So how can you claim the moral fucking high ground now?

    2) You call people cowards eh? Well what the hell are you then? A big bad internet warrior? That's just what you're saying he was. But at least I knew who he was, and vice versa. Who are you Liet, who hides form us? Who does not practice what he preaches? You suddenley find it very easy to be the big "I am" on this issue from the comfort zone of complete anonimity.

I am pretty much the way I am in real life the way I am here. i.e. I tell off fucktards who deserve to be told off. To no one's surprise, nobody else steps up to defend them, because, well, who wants to defend a fucktard?

    Hi Liet. :finger:

I put memorial threads in the Red Room because of the nature of the board.

It is the only way to make sure everyone sees it and the death of a member is very important information.

I ask people to be civil and treat it like a thread elsewhere because of the nature of the thread. People here are adults and should be able to control themselves for such a serious topic...and most seem able to. Those who don't reveal a side to themselves that few are impressed to witness.

I know what respect I had left for Liet, which was low enough after the oreo incident has pretty much completely disappeared after this. He probably doesn't give two farts, but he did no favors for the reputation of his character for his words.

I don't see how hard it is to not post anything if you didn't like Sokar. Why the need to talk about hate in someone's memorial thread?

I can just imagine the crap that will be in mine. I'm kind of sad I'll miss it.

How dare you talk about Sokar in such a disrespectful manner. :nono:

But in all seriousness, a thread like this would have attracted just as much attention in the Green Room. There was absolutely zero reason to post this in the Red Room other than to invite negative comments towards Sokar and thus upset any family members of his that might view this website. By posting it in here, you invited the type of posts you denounced in your opening post (e.g. those posts that talked about him in a negative light, because you realized how many people he openly harassed).

I applaud you for your successful troll at the expense of Sokar's death. Congratulations on luring so many people who Sokar had offended into denouncing his horrible posts. He probably would have been proud that you managed to use his death to troll so many left-leaning posters into posting in his memorial thread, and that you got away with such scum-baggery as using his death to make those posters look bad.

    Let's pretend you're right for a moment...

No matter what I posted, it could not make another poster look bad unless they were so immature and lacking in class as to take shots and make petty remarks about a deceased person.

Every single memorial thread and the yearly remembrance threads have always been in the Red Room and many of them were not posted by me. It's always been a traffic issue, as some folks never leave the Red Room at all.

It's an adorable attempt at trying to troll me though. Didn't work...but it's sweet you would try.

That's cute, but he was horrible to many people at this board. I don't fault anyone for speaking ill of his chosen persona. I also don't fault anyone for mourning the loss of an interesting persona.

Wow, all three of them??? :dayton: The fact of the matter is, just as many people would have seen this if you had posted it in any non-RR forum with a global sticky. You chose to post it in the Red Room to elicit these responses.

My grief takes interesting forms. :bergman:

So what was the issue with posting this in the Green Room, or as a Global Announcement? Why include the provision in your opening post asking people to remain respectful toward a member who wantonly harassed others?

Instead, you and many others choose to feign outrage :drama:

that anyone would dare to troll a lame persona :drama:

in a Red Room thread :drama:,

    as if Sokar :drama:

    would have taken offense :drama:

to such things and not done so himself :drama:,

if for instance, it had been actormike or his wife :drama:.

Damn, some of y'all can't let shit go, even after the death I can say with certainty was painful and agonizing and more than paid for all the trolling he did here and then some.

Good God, I hope he and Jeriko are having a laugh at Lietard as they ride liberals like ponies into the sunset. :borg:

I honestly don't fault many people for not letting Sokar's shittiness go. I said this one of the bumped Sokar threads:

He constantly harassed actormike about his personal life, including his wife (which is a tactic many at this board feel is reprehensible but turned a blind eye towards because they disagreed with actormike's politics, and because Tamar has a clitoral-boner for Sokar).

My personal view is that I am sad that a person died, but I'm not sad that the Sokar persona will no longer be posting here. In fact, I'm pretty apathetic that the Sokar persona won't be posting here anymore--I honestly haven't noticed his absence in the last month or so. If that makes me a bad person, then please ban me.

I'll grant you Liet and his never ending butthurt are pathetic, but Tamar and her selective outrage over something Sokar probably would have done himself are almost as annoying.

    Selective outrage?

There isn't a memorial thread that has been posted here that doesn't have me espousing all the exact same things when it was necessary.

And no, I didn't have the hots for Sokar. Only my husband, Doctor Who and Captain Pike have that dubious distinction. Yeah, I liked him and considered him a friend but that's because I knew more of the man behind the WF persona.

And No, I never saw Sokar ever act like an asshole in a WFer Memorial thread...it's a line even he didn't cross. And if he had, you're calling him a moral-less asshole while behaving in exactly the same manner. :jayzus:

Keep pretending it's some hardship and uncontrollable necessity to come in here and vomit shit in this thread and it's my fault that some of you are too retarded to simply say nothing and have a modicum of class. As if a thread posted here forces one to be a petty little prick.

Please. Stop embarrassing yourself...it's not me you are making look stupid.

It's interesting to think about, really. A guy who posted here has died. Short of him actively trying to destroy one's real life, you know, like getting someone fired or making stalkery obscene phone calls to one's house, his death more than makes up for any shit that could have possibly occurred. Honestly, it's sad that there are people here who can be so pissed at a dead guy for saying words on a message board that he can no longer say because he's dead, that they have to make those points where he can never defend himself. He won't say those words any more. He won't bother anyone anymore, but it still has to be said. Why? Will someone change their mind and get mad at the now dead guy? What purpose is there in being a prick in a memorial thread? Did the dead guy do it to someone else? Well, he's dead. Let's not carry on the tradition.

What's the purpose of pretending he wasn't the person we remember?

When I die, I want people to remember me for everything, (metaphoric) warts and all. From what little I knew of Sokar, I'd expect he'd want the same.

R.I.P to a true WF Legend.

    :(

Seeing how some of you are behaving, I'd say Sokar is more succesful even in the afterlife than any of you cowardly dumbcunt cocksuckers are going to be in your entire lives.

And you know it.. hence the teeth gnashing in a memorial thread.

    :)

Speaking for myself, as a general rule the more bile and invective you put into a post, the less likely I am to take you seriously.

Others might find it entertaining, I generally find it tedious.

I can't believe I'm actually to the point where I am considering using the IGNORE function on certain select cretins in here. I feel like I should need some doomsday code, like Janeway Pi 1 1 0, to do it too. I haven't heard this much dancing on the grave of others since the last time I channel surfed and came across Union "Piers Morgan" Jack having a hormonal meltdowm over guns on CNN. Now granted, I've met some British people who are publicly uncouth, but that's supposed to be the job of the Iranians, Pakastanis, and Afghans. I really think the haters should put together a "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead" music video spoof. Sokar would love it, and you'd all get to beat your chests as you dance around some gold, bling, little people, and some random white girl who keeps her dog in a picnic basket.

What a bizarre thought. I won't go into any more detail on the subject of this thread, my thoughts are well known on that topic. But death is just death man. It doesn't magically purify you, it changes your past actions not one whit. Knowing you are dying gives you the opportunity to atone, and some people avail themselves of that, and many don't. But if you die a shitstain, you remain a shitstain in death - hell, in perpetuity, because you never get a chance to undo those actions.

Dead is just dead. It's not a noble act.

Not speaking ill of the dead is less for the deceased's sake, and much more a kindness for those that are left behind.

Goodbye Sokar. I know it's been a while, but I hope you knew that you will be very much missed.

If there is a way for you to hear our thoughts, then also know this: thank you for the laughs, the good times and the company.....and for the consideration when it was needed, which you had no reason to give and yet did so freely. It's what this poster remembers about you most. While things change, while we may all get busy with our lives....my memories will be fond ones of you.

When a college friend of mine died, we found in his belongings a poem that I've kept. It brought me comfort then, and has brought me comfort in similar situations. Almost ten years later, I share it....to acknowledge and soothe the pain you had to endure, and to honor your memory:

    I've reached the rainbows end
My gilded cage has flung free
    Feathers mend to recommend
I spread my wings in flight.

It's how I will choose to think of you; free from your cage, doing all the things you like, a heart (Klingon), once again soaring.

My thoughts of peace and comfort to your family and kids also. May all the angels be there, looking after and helping them.

Goodbye, and level best to you.

Sokar is the only asshole among the Wordforge dead, so you need to stop making this apples to oranges comparison. You knew he was controversial, and that many would not feel any remorse about getting in the last word after a decade of trolling and flames. Yet you placed the thread in the one place where people could do just that. Your choice was either stupid, or calculating. I'm not sure which, but neither reflects well on you.

Also, it might be worth moving this discussion in to a separate thread. It isn't about the memorial, and the more you and a few others criticize the less kind posts, the more you yourself are joining in disrespecting the purpose of this thread and the man it is supposed to be about.

Your opinion. To many, Ayn Rand was an asshole, to others- she's a prophet and spokeswoman for true capitalism. The only apples and oranges comparison to be made here is point of view. Either way, unless you've had some really bad blood in real life, I really don't think bashing the dead is a classy thing for anyone to do. I don't care if we all have the Red Room license to do it, or not.

I only know him by how he presented himself here. If you read my posts further up thread, you'll see that they were in fact respectful. But seeing all the butt hurt in this thread about how some have responded to the news, I felt it was worth exploring why somebody might say they were glad he won't be here again. Also worth exploring,is why this thread was put in a place where people could and would flame the dead. I'm pretty sure Sokar was among those who glibly celebrated the death of Paul Wellstone. What's good for the goose is good for the gander
