Oh for crying out loud, can you at least be bothered to come up with a coherent argument? There are many arguable reasons against waiting periods and many interesting arguments about the fallacy of blaming inanimate objects, but they don't fit together in this way! A waiting period is there precisely because the same unchanging inanimate object is considered dangerous or less dangerous not by its own nature, but depending on the person, and the state of the person, that wields it. That's why you hinder the person getting their hands on it. The gun will be no less of a gun and no less of an inanimate object after ten days, but the person might turn out to be.

Do we really have to rewrite your arguments for you in order to have a sensible debate?

I agree with EP. You have an object that's now been demonstrated can be used to build IED's that can cause mass destruction & death. If not a 10-day wait, shouldn't we at least track the sales of such objects, much like we do the sale of pseudoephedrine at pharmacies? Make people sign a form and show ID before handing it over to them?

The dedicated terrorist who has planned & premeditated his attack won't be deterred by having to wait 10 days for anything. These are cold, calculated crimes by people who have convinced themselves they are waging holy war for some higher cause.

The 10 day wait is meant to deter crimes of passion, for example Volpone breaks up with his boyfriend, boyfriend goes nuts and runs out and buys a gun that same day and blows Volpone away in a fit of rage.

Of course, nothing in your diatribe specifically addresses EP's point. A pressure cooker is an inanimate object that we now see can be misused if it falls into the hands of the wrong person.
