I don't know what the clip Ferguson showed here is from - don't have time to listen to the whole interview - but I like the attitude he played there and it would be a nice sort of sharp twist on the Doctor if he were played that way [yt=Ferguson show]YD7Dz_1u2Jo[/yt]
Guy looks older and smart, apparently known, from what I skimmed, for playing hardasses and villains? What's not to like?
I noticed him in a recent supporting role in World War Z. I first remember seeing him in In the Loop, and he was absolutely hilarious.
Not a Whovian, but a big Peter Capaldi fan. First saw him in drag in Prime Suspect 3. Have watched for him in a slew of stuff since. Versatile, talented actor.
Interesting news. Capaldi is a great actor. However, the jury's still out on the next series. As I've said before, Smith was a capable Dr. Who hampered by mostly by shitty writing and stories in the latter half of his run.
Don't know much about him, but on the surface he seems like a good choice. Matt Smith always seemed too young for the part to me - he certainly had talent, but he lacked the gravitas that previous doctors brought, even relatively young guys like Tennant (though he almost a decade older than Smith when each started their roles).
Didn't he play the guy who murder-suicides his whole family in an episode a while back? And in another show, the guy whose dialogue is a string of expletives and insults?
Know who else would've been good? Alan Ford. Could'a had The Doctor talkin' about feeding people to pigs.
