Oh, right. Nobody at the Hop. That's what you get for not getting Chubby Checker for the music.

funny thing, Chubby Checker isn't known for that song. Probably because the original by Danny and the Juniors is the version everyone is familiar with, while a quick look at CC's discography doesn't turn up a recording of it.

do you even listen to music?

It's not a reference to the song, it's a reference to the social gathering that inspired the song and, by extension, the type of music that would have been played at such social gatherings.

(Hint: that's why there's a picture of a high school gym, where hops tended to take place, up there instead of a picture of Chubby Checker.)

Now bugger off, road muffin, you've shat up a fine parody with your autistic nitpicking. :brood:

DUDE! I saw Danny and The Juniors LIVE at RAF Lakenheath England in 1980.
By then they were pretty much senior, not junior. :jayzus:

But still, they put on a great, lively show. :techman:

you're thinking of "at the hop".
again, nothing to do with Chubby Checker.
Parody relies on relevance, last I heard, Turdblossom.

Considering everything else you've heard, I'm not surprised you think so.

But a "hop", otherwise known as a "sock hop", was more than just one particular song, or even a few.

So here's what'cha do: Eat your foot. Progress up the leg. Once you've eaten everything below your neck, fold yourself in half and imitate a meat pie.

John Castle is correct on this. Checker was bigger at sock hops than Danny and the Juniors ever were.

And Flash Cadillac and the Continental Kids did a far better version of At The Hop.

Trivia: The reason they were called "Sock Hops" is because they were held in school basketball gyms.... and street shoes weren't allows so the finish wouldn't get fubared.
