New Pastor Disguises Himself As Vagrant To Teach His Congregation A Lesson Hypocrite-shaming at its finest.
What are you sorry for? Maybe you didn't notice, but I did: Besides, even if it is only a modern parable, it's a damned good one.
I flipped one of their boxes around so that "this end up" wasn't upside down. The other hobos didn't want to embarrass him.
Not a bad "want to believe it's true" story - but it's missing someone waking up in a bath-tub full of ice missing a kidney.
Hmmmm.......and another twist to push the story into urban legend territory would be all the people who ignored him waking up to find "welcome to the wonderful world of AIDS" written on their bathroom windows...in Aramaic!
Sounds like a story that's too good to be true. Kinda like if a stranger drove a car drove off a bridge in front of Ted Kennedy while he was out walking, and he ran away again.
Dunno, it's a brilliant way to see how caring and giving your new bible thumpers are when more than the usual fake devotion is asked. Would be sad if the story wasn't true
If it honestly, actually never has been done... it should be. Thing is, though, most Christians are giving and compassionate. I don't think you could find a church where they'd treat somebody as badly as the hypothetical pastor-as-bum was treated.
I'm giving away "wish sandwiches" and "ricochet biscuits" to the first 100 people standing in line to kiss my ass - so business as usual I guess.
I have to disagree on that one. I know a number of churches who would treat a homeless person poorly, or worse, they'd tell him they would pray for him, and just keep walking.
Indeed it is. I've got a problem with that kind of thing. I mean, if you're going to ignore him, ignore him, but don't pretend you care by saying something nice, and then turn and walk away, feeling like you just did the work of The Lord™. What the hell good is that going to do for that homeless man besides take what little faith in humanity he might have left?
I agree with John here. There are a lot of church members who wouldn't help a smelly, dirty, homeless vagrant. But not all of them are like that.
