Anyone excited for this? I'm not a Whedon fan. Hated buffy, firefly etc.. loved Avengers though... but this series looks kind of lame.

I dunno...I saw a publicity photo of Ming-na Wen in a leather "action suit" oufit as part of the show's PR, and all I could think was BAD CASTING! She is not convincing at all! So I have really LOW expectations....

It's a little rough, but so far, I think this show could go really well or really bad. I'm in for the moment.

I liked it. Good to see
in it again. Interesting premise. Can't work out who the big bad is yet. AIM? Hydra? Mandarin? Hard to tell.

the writing for Colson is jut about as perfect as you can get. The world full of little touches (like Lola's secret identity for instance) is wonderful, and the potential is everywhere.

My only reservation is that I need to warm up to the actors that i haven't already seen and liked elsewhere. But given Weadon's history, I'm sure i will.

It needs room to grow, but I'll give it a chance.

Liked the connections to Avengers, and Iron Man 3.

I was very underwhelmed, but I think I gave it too much internal personal hype.

I'll give it more of a chance next week.

Not half bad for a pilot. The biggest thing this show has working against it is the expectation that it will be as good as the Avengers or the high points of previous Whedon shows in the very first week. It was a competent introduction to the show; now let's see what the show will be like.

    [SPOILERS]
Caught it on Hulu at lunch. A big 'meh' from me.

The plot is kind of formulaic so far, and for those trademark clever character moments to carry a show, the actors and characters need to have some chemistry, which I am not seeing. Ming-na Wen in particular looks tired and bored. Only my opinion, of course, but to me the only part of the "team" who isn't either phoning it in like a wooden mannequin or acting like a composite of youthful idiom cliche's is Clark Gregg, and if you want him to carry the show you'll need to give him more screen time.

Nice to see Ron Glass getting some work. Hopefully it's more than an occasional bit role.

wow, what a lame let down.

Thrill!!!! As a bunch of one note characters in suits stand around and talk about how awesome the Avengers are!"

THis just solidifies for me that the only good thing Joss Wheedon ever did WAS the Avengers.

TV show cannot survive on snark alone.

yeah.. enjoyed it, but it was fluffy. Typical team forming story where the most promising dynamic looks to be Fitz/Simmons.

the humour was there, but seemed tepid if not outright forced. Not sure I liked Colson gettig snarky with the redshirt. "Don't touch Lola"??? c'mon.. the guy is assigned to tie down your precious ride, and likely maintain it in the field. Not too mention what ever other mechanical duties he fulfills.

You can see some Joss Whedon influences and humor in it, like the time the guys steps out of the shadows.

Chloe Bennett makes me very happy. In my pants! :droolingidiot:

Yeah, it's not bad, but nothing to write home about.

Also, the implication of a mole made me want to throw my remote through my TV. Really...they have to go back to that well????

I'm sure they will try to put a twist on it like her choosing the team over Rising Tide...but still..cliche city.

Like someone on Facebook said, I think people were expecting Avengers: The Television Show and this is not that. I think it's coming along nicely so far.

Believe it or not, I see Agents of SHIELD as being kind of a corny, goofy, family friendly version of Torchwood!

I'm enjoying it, bit it's not exactly running smoothly.

So far we're talking Warehouse 13 with a bigger budget.

    Torchwood is a good comparison!

Yeah, the second episode threatens enduring mehness. It's hard to hit the ground running, but there's not going to be infinite patience for this show to figure out at least one of the things it wants to be about.

looks like the macguffin is gonna be tesseracht tech...

the mole ending is lame. Best thing they can do with it is explain a replacement character's source sometime in the future.

Fury's cameo at the end was worth the hour, even if it was only comic relief.

Looks to me like NCIS in a world with metas.

That is, you're going to have to really like the team itself for it to rise above the standard tropes. The "Hew, it's marvel! It's Weadon! It's got some something avengerish or other!" will carry it for a little while but you are gonna have to love the characters by the time that wears off.
