My mom passed away on July 11. The very next morning, I coughed up a small loogy and there was a tiny bit of blood in it. That was the very first symptom. I often get pneumonia from allergies around August and I hoped that's all it was, but deep down I knew. Finally got a chest X-Ray a couple of weeks later and the findings were suspicious. Followed that up a week or so later with a chest CT and it was real suspicious and showed the liver mets. As it progressed, I suspected the brain mets because I started noticing coordination problems with my right hand. I'm an IV nurse, so that hand is the money maker. The rest of it was a total surprise.

When the board changed hands, I decided to take a break. I'd been here a long time. My ex-wife and I separated about a year earlier and I had a life to put back together.

Stress causes a lot of things, but I've never heard of it causing cancer.

FF is right. It is a contributing factor. Stress is responsible for more illness and disease then any cause.

Zen meditation = less to no stress = mitigation of a nasty illness/disease contributor.

Well, I'm thinking it may be time for the Marvel superhero origin bucket list. Radioactive spider bite, gamma bomb test, super soldier serum, bombarded by gamma rays while on a space mission...if you're healthy enough to do some spelunking, maybe you can find a big-ass hammer. I guess there's the Weapon X program in Canadia too. I'm not real clear on Deadpool, but apparently he had cancer and the Weapon X program cured it.

Oh, and in spite of your edict against math in the Red Room, I did the math and I'm not ready for someone I know to die of cancer for at least another 6 years. So F you. Don't die. ;)

Perhaps, but isn't there a lot of stress "waiting for that last shoe to drop" in endlessly waiting for the sound of one hand clapping?

Seeing as how I thoroughly agree, the math edict is temporarily suspended in this situation or circumstance. :techman:

I hear rumors that a vile of Khan's blood remains at the Paramount studios. Is it time for a Wordforge road trip to invasion of Holywood?

Geeze...I know there is really nothing anyone can say that truly helps...and yet on another level everything people say *does* help. I know there's nothing I can do except sympathize with some of your symptoms...there is really no describing or truly getting across that "drowning on dry land" feeling...there's not much like it and drowning only sort of covers it. Oh..never skimp on your oxygen either...you will find yourself getting dumber if you deprive yourself too much. Dumber and more forgetful.

Just know how much I love you and I am praying for you and if you think of anything I can do for you just ask. Also if you need to talk or want an ear that understands the kinds of things you are going through, contact me. :backhug:

Good advice! One day when we visited my mother-in-law during her 3 months in the hospital, she'd spent the previous night with insufficient O2. She was paranoid and manic. She accused her husband of trying to kill her to get the money in her sock drawer, and kept focusing on me as someone who would save her from her evil family. She wanted them all out of the room but me, 'cause she said she could only trust me because I wasn't blood related. Mary's father just stood there crying. She was back to normal after a while on O2 again.

Had a bad yesterday that started with the O2 getting pulled my off face in the night, my tubing unplugged from the concentrator, I was home alone and got real confused.
