    An Alabama senator started a Go Fund Me page to try and fill a $300 million revenue shortfall, and Word Forge had a thread about it. But it only collected $1,365 dollars because people here were stingy.

    So Alabama passed a 40 percent porn tax.

    Rather than fix a $200 million overspending problem before October 1, the Alabama House Ways and Means Committee has passed a 40 percent “porn tax” on the gross receipts from the sale, rental, or admission charges of pornographic material. This includes pornographic magazines, adult videos, and online adult rentals.​

    I can't believe more governments haven't thought of taxing porn. Chicago is being sued over its new tax on streaming services. A tax on porn might be covered under the city's longstanding amusement tax.

    I do not get why they don't just tax the people in that case. If you tax porn in AL it is just like taxing the people. You would get the same results taxing the church or beer. There are more porn shops in AL than there are pawn shops.
