According to this guy (don't know what his credentials, if any, are) Boomers II or Generation Jones. :wtf:

    http://www.socialmarketing.org/newsletter/features/generation2.htm

Fortunately, even his timeline makes me Gen X and not a Boomer of any iteration.

I'm glad to see that my youngest daughter is apparently Generation Z. :techman:

My kids are Generation Z according to that guy. With my wife and I in Gen-X, that means our household is completely composed of cool people, not losers and assholes. :techman:

Although, we did have a Boomer-1 living with us for about half a year.

My oldest daughter is Generation Y, but she's the antithesis of "Millenial".

    She mocks those people.

What's worrisome is that, according to that guy's reckoning, many if not most of the college kids crying about "safe areas", "trigger warnings", and other bullshit like that are also Generation Z, so the virus isn't confined to just Millenials. :(

That's because the virus is not based on age but on one being a spineless wimp which most leftists are in spades.

Most of the Millenials I know are the antithesis of what everyone says Millenials are ... which makes me suspect that it's largely the invention of crabby Baby Boomers.

    Exactly.

These demographic labels of "generations" are simply the crafty concoction of Madison ave to enable big bad free-market commerce to better price & target advertisements. Amateur sociologists and internet know-it-alls then backward engineer cultural trends to fit in the little boxes. E.g. the arbitrary determination that 1964 was last year of "baby boom," thus a kid born 1/1/65 is not a 'boomer.'

The vast majority of Millenials that I know fit the stereotype to a "t".

So much so that those in their cohort that don't fit the description really stand out.

My daughter was telling me at dinner that she's reading an essay tomorrow during an open mic session at her writing program. She said that they were only allowing kids from the non-fiction workshop to participate, because every week so far it's just been the poetry kids reading their "depressed, angst-ridden poems about how hard it is to be a teenager." Her phrasing reminded me a bit of this thread, so I brought up @shootER's article defining generations. She said that she knows a lot of kids, "like these poet losers," who talk about wanting to be millenials. I was quite proud of her description.

Yeah my kids never did get into the whole "teen angst" thing too much growing up. No major drama from either one - minimum police visits and jail time, no suicide threats, no cutting, no drug use, no pregnancy, etc. I must say I really got off easier than many parents I know!

Oldfella is from the other side of those tracks. Getting arrested is okay as long as it's minor jail time.

Anything more then 30 days and that kid is so grounded when he gets out of lockup!

It's still a very common last name, and the context shows its a memorial to a person and not celebrating the killing of blacks. :jayzus:

I think it just serves to illustrate how stupid a lot of these university students are. I wouldn't be surprised if at first they weren't even aware that the building was named after a person how probably contributed significantly in some way to the university or maybe even specifically to whatever school is housed within the building named after him. But as in previous cases, even learning the facts doesn't change their position any, because they tend to be as uncompromising as members of the religious right. So I also doubt they much care about this Clyde A. Lynch guy or his contributions to the university they're attending, and they'll probably even dismiss him on a racial basis if nothing else. :bergman:

    lynch (v.) [IMG]
1835, from earlier Lynch law (1811), likely named after William Lynch (1742-1820) of Pittsylvania, Virginia, who c. 1780 led a vigilance committee to keep order there during the Revolution. Other sources trace the name to Charles Lynch (1736-1796) a Virginia magistrate who fined and imprisoned Tories in his district c. 1782, but the connection to him is less likely. Originally any sort of summary justice, especially by flogging; narrowing of focus to "extralegal execution by hanging" is 20c. Lynch mob is attested from 1838. The surname is perhaps from Irish Loingseach "sailor." Compare earlier Lydford law, from a place in Dartmoor, England, "where was held a Stannaries Court of summary jurisdiction" [Weekley], hence:

Lydford law: is to hang men first, and indite them afterwards. [Thomas Blount, "Glossographia," 1656]

Being born in 1976 I am the very last of Gen X. Most of my friends growing up were Gen X but because the military delayed my college graduation I went to college with some of the oldest Millennials. The youngest Millennials were born when I was a senior in high school.

The disadvantage comes from after you use your G.I. Bill for college or trade school or vocational school individual companies could have discriminatory employment practices. He is wrong about the US government supposedly denying equal benefits to black service members though.

Perhaps his ire would be better aimed at the Democrat party whose Southern legacy from Woodrow Wilson was racial discrimination, or perhaps he should open his eyes and focus on the black Americans who served with such distinction that Southern whites knew to never engage them in open combat or they would end up stacked in heaps just like so many lily white Wehrmacht corpses. That limited the field of violence to the much smaller number of dumbass rednecks who get drunk and get in fights they'll lose, and paved the way for all that came after. If not for Wilson that would've happened in the aftermath of WW-I instead of WW-II, because Wilson made sure black didn't fight European whites in combat. He stuck with the Confederacy's conception of them as slave labor to do road work and dig trench lines. If Corporal Hitler had faced black men from Alabama or Tennessee he might not have concluded that Germans were the master race.

But that's beside the point. The point is that idiot rich elite white kids at Amherst apparently get laid by idiot rich elite white girls at Amherst by spouting a bunch of self-serving condescending nonsense about how they tutored a black kid in high school and thus have sacrificed and deserve their privileged lives where they'll get a $250,000 a year offer from some Wall Street firm, and they have no shame about lecturing immigrants about how unjust we are, while being proud racial justice warriors who wouldn't give a dime to any lesser being.

Does it really surprise anyone? Everywhere you go now, people are being coddled, and not challenged or corrected. Heaven forbid, I hurt someone's feelings! People don't want to hear different opinions anymore; they merely want to hear their own voices played back to them. I personally find many in my generation who are so emotionally weak, repugnant.

If you came away with the conclusion that D'Souza destroyed that guy you:

    1. Probably didn't watch the video or
    2. Don't understand the interrelated nature of the G.I. bill, bank ownership, and redlining.
