http://sdg3.com/terran/ This place, which is where Kellyz Korner was merged into when Nibbles passed away. I just met the owner of Terran BBS at TBBS the other day who says she keeps the place open specifically to not lose the Kellyz Korner stuff.
This is good work but also an oversimplification. At least WF is not a pure TBBS spinoff. It was intended as something entirely else. It's more or less a coincidence that another project was stuck in development hell due to real life issues like my brother founding a far out business that, surprisingly to everybody, took off like a Viper from a battlestar. When you guys invaded en masse I really didn't think it would be for more than a month or two until whatever BS went down at TBBS at the time blew over. And yet here you are, like the smell of cat piss that just won't go away. If you want to go full nerd, WF can be traced back to long forgotten Usenet groups in the 90s. Then there was a clandestine British quilting BBS *woof* which still exists but seems dead (we have or at least had active members from there on here). TBBS. WF. The pedigree still resonates I think. WF is not one of a million SciFi boards. It's there but not the main focus.
Can't see the image, but there was board by ... oh, can't remember her name but there was a big drama episode when she posted a picture in her pajamas. She was fine with all the comments about how pretty she was, then someone made a comment about masterbating to it and all hell broke loose. So, so she created a board of her own.
I think I was the culprit in question, but I can't remember her name. That all sounds vaguely familiar, but I've been drunk several times since then.
Yeah, I think it was ExIsle. That place made me of all people feel uncomfortable with the touchy-feely be nice to each other mantra they espoused
File this under the LoNAF banner: Lonaf took in a bunch of refugees from Portent(.net?) when the staff got tired of the spammy antics of the Chaos Wastes (think a forum full of Babas), and created the NeoWastes. The refugees, who joined Lonaf up to two months before I did, affectionately called themselves Wastoids. Amidst staff concerns that the Wastoids were keeping to themselves in the NeoWastes and a bit in No Holds Barred (the 'unmoderated' sparring forum, later renamed No Holes Barred as a joke) instead of cross posting into the Starbase (news/politics/religion forum, but with the intent to keep it civil and later loosened up toward what the Red Room is) and the Promenade (roughly the same as the Green Room), the staff decided to close the NeoWastes to force the Wastoids to assimilate into the main board over the objections of a couple members. Needless to say, the Wastoids drifted away and, coupled with the issues present with phpBB3, Lonaf slipped into decline.
Even then, I didn't have the time to waste that Enterpriser did. The man was a machine. Styx wrote a song about him.
RIP HavenBBS. I went to go log in to clamp down on bot registrations spamming up notices in the email... and the board software is so outdated and broken that Partsking, the LoNAF site owner, is going to redirect the board to 404. HavenBBS: 2005-2018, officially dead on its 13th anniversary.
Anyone know what ever happened to Christian? I bet he's still locked away in his mom's basement playing that PS2 that TrekBBS had originally financed.
Good lord, I haven't seen him around in ages, and T'Bonz only mentions him once in a big blue moon. I kind of wonder if he even remembers he owns TBBS.
