And it's a big problem. It means folk often don't seek help (whether social, financial or psychological) because they think society wants them to deal with shit themselves. Fuck that train of thought - my Mum is STILL paying off debts my Dad ran up because he figured it was his responsibility to handle the household finances as "the man" and the fucker has been in the ground since 1997. Being self-sufficient when you can be is great, being able to admit when you need help is better.
