Return Flashlight's ability to rep

Hey, remember how you all used to say that rep doesn't actually do anything (since it actually doesn't)? Disabling Flashlight's ability to rep just stinks of pettiness, and there's no getting around that.

If it stinks, I suggest cleaning the gunk out of your keyboard.

Rep can be used to harass others. Flashlight was using it to harass other members, and since rep can be used boardwide, that has to be taken into account.

Rep is a privilege. It can be withheld when abused.

Every time the deluge started, I just blocked him with ignore.
I don't like blocking, but I don't like my feed tarded up either.

Well, that's magnanimous of you. I mean, it had to be so frustrating when you had to deal with the constant influx of reports from one poster, and then the back-and-forth sniping via the report system between other users and that poster.

That being said, do you remember my one rule? It's easy to remember, and it's a rule I hold very close to my heart. It goes something like this:

Don't fuck with the board.

It's a simple rule, a lovely rule. A rule I will have carved on my headstone when I die. Do not break that rule. No one breaks that rule.

Yeah, I mean, it's not like you constantly told him to just report any grievance he had instead of responding and thereby derail the thread it happened in or anything.

So basically what it amounts to is that you were annoyed that he actually did this. And you were annoyed that MF was constantly giving you and others negreps, which you've established don't actually do anything. So your definition of "fuck with the board" essentially boils down to "don't annoy me." Good to know. Or are you actually going to argue that using board features exactly as they were intended to work in some way threatens the board?

No, I'm not a liar, I simply don't give a fuck regarding whether or not I need to enlight you. That's not my job. What I do is I keep the board running, and I also help with the incoming reports. The problem among the staff was that Dayton was repeatedly spamming the report button, even when he was told to dial it back. He didn't. The spamming began to involve spats between other members trying to out-report one another, and it became a giant clusterfuck. Dayton was warned if he kept it up, he would lose his reporting privilege. He kept it up, and lost it. You don't have to like it, and if you say as much, I'll attempt to dredge up some care from give-a-fuck bay. Otherwise, tough shit.

So you told him to use the report function so you wouldn't have to deal with his shit in the threads, then were somehow surprised that his shit was simply transferred to that system? Really? So why not just tell him up front that you don't give a shit about whatever he wants to complain about instead of giving him lip service?

Actually, we disabled Chup's reporting abilities for that BS as well, and once John was able to get a print up of how many reports they'd both been making , even Dayton was forced to realize it was a bit much.

As for Flashlight, if it were just me running the boards I'd have flipped the switch back on already, but I can certainly understand @gul 's position of wanting someone here who does more than just obsessively flood everyone's CP with and I'm sure you'll agree that the idea of staff placing people on ignore is equally unpalpable, for obvious reasons.
