The Violet Room

There is a new forum on Wordforge, and it's called The Violet Room. Personal call-out threads, threads dealing with a specific poster in an antagonistic way, anything like that, goes into The Violet Room.

The Violet Room follows Red Room guidelines. You can still troll and flame in The Red Room, as always, but if all you'd rather do is derail threads rather than actually discuss and debate, bring it to The Violet Room. In essence, The Violet Room will be treated the same way as The Daycare over at TK. If all you have to bring to the table is stupid shit, it goes in The Violet Room. As you can see, if you've been in the Red Room, some threads have already been moved to the Violet Room.

This is, of course, subject to change, depending upon how things work out.

No doubt mods will, yet again, find a way to abuse this by selectively moving threads there to disappear.

I didn't even realize how much there was until I started moving some of it. Now I'm wishing there was way to just move all of those threads there by default.

The position of Volpone has already been taken. That being said, what's your point? Why would they disappear if they're moving a few forums down where they belong?

The mods are being such little bitches right now. Their butt hurt is unbelievable and this is just to give them yet another tool to silence and target posters they disagree with.

I hope I am wrong but I doubt I am given their piss poor performance to date.

The Red Room is being overrun by spam, and threads are being derailed constantly. There has always been some derailment, and trolling in the Red Room, that's a Wordforge tradition, but it has gotten well out of hand at this point. Why bother contributing if it's going to descend into shitposting and derailment every other post? So a variant on the Daycare is being introduced. If there are going to be posters who insist on behaving like little shits all day long and fucking over the experience for everyone else, then they can do that, in the Violet Room. If they just want to spend every minute on the board calling out other posters and being a pest to everyone, they can do it in the Violet Room.

This may work out, it may fail, but it's going to be given a chance.

It might. I'm not going to coddle anyone here and pretend some of you aren't fucking things up for the rest of the board, but this is Wordforge, and banning is overkill, and very much not something preferred around here. Some of baba's threads are already in there.

Ahh, yes, the mythical "real discussion" which usually means people agreeing with that person's side. Where as people who disagree, even if they raise good points, get selectively moved some where else where few people go.

Just be honest and admit you are going to try to use it to silence those posters you dislike. We already know mods like Gul will abuse every power he has against people he dislikes so I see no good reason to give abusers more power.

Even if one take's John's argument at face value, which would be foolish to the extreme, WF already has one active forum and half a dozen dying ones. Adding yet another forum just divides posts up further resulting in less activity in the one remaining active subforum.

The hard reality is Wordforge needs to eliminate subforums and concentrate posting activity not divide it up further into more dead forums.

From a casual skim of things, it looks like the content of the room are largely those started by teh baba. Not seeing the problem here.

Baba, for one, if we're naming names. I've only moved a few of his posts to the Violet Room, because if I moved any more it would take all damned night, and I still wouldn't get them all. Is there a particular reason behind this? Yes. I'm not hiding a goddamned thing. There are problem posters like @gturner, who have made it their mission to derail threads, regardless of topic. Bonz banned his ass years ago over at TBBS because he couldn't do anything other than derail topics all over the board, and instead of seeing him and doing the same, we let him post, and for a while nothing really out of sorts happened, but over the past year, especially this election season, gturner's just went off the fucking rails. No one can post anything without him coming in and just derailing it all for his own agenda.

You might not think it's a problem, but from the ownership's perspective, and I agree with them, Wordforge needs to draw in members, people who want to discuss and debate. Having some asshole constantly shut down conversations and derailing threads is a sure as shit fast way to make the rest of the community leave in disgust.

Wordforge has never been a full free for all. If you think it has, you've confused it with Troll Kingdom. We aren't TK. Never will be, but if we can use some of their methods to control the worst posters without having to ban them outright, then it will be done.
