The United States has just elected arguably the FOURTH CONSECUTIVE president who in terms of life experiences and political experience is grossly unqualified to be president?

Clinton, Bush II, Obama, and now Trump.

What the living hell is going on???

I don't agree that Clinton or Bush II were grossly unqualified.

Neither had military experience of note. Neither had created or run a business. Neither had legislative political experience at any level whatsoever.

Bill Clinton won 5 our of 7 elections in Arkansas, a virtually one party state at that time.

Bush II was elected governor of Texas on the strength of his last name against an incumbent governor (Ann Richards) that was widely disliked in Texas anyway and who was at war with the Lt. Governor (Bob Bulloch).

Bush executed a few murderers and basically agreed to let Texas icon, Democratic Lt. Governor Bob Bulloch run the state. Bulloch who was exhausted by four years of warfare with Richards, fighting off his pretty young wife's stalker, and having given up on ever rising to a higher office pretty much agreed to do the job and give Bush credit.

Even Jimmy Carter was much more qualified in terms of life and political experience.

    Qualifications necessary to become president:

    - At least 35 years old
    - Natural-born US citizen
    - Win presidential election (with some exceptions in unusual circumstances.)

Anything else is arbitrary and meaningless. All of the presidents could have been better in some way.

Everyone knows that the constitutional qualifications are.

I was referring to something else.

Yes, you were, and I addressed that. Specifically, I used the words "arbitrary" and "meaningless."

Well, George H.W. Bush was probably hands-down the most qualified president of the last 40 years in terms of foreign policy and military experience. But on the other hand, until being elected president, he had only won an election twice on his own -- to Congress two decades earlier.

We are certainly on a race to the bottom when it comes to the quality and political experience of the person who occupies that office.

Being a Governor or U S Senator used to be sort of a prerequisite of any candidate running for President. Now it is seen as a liability by the electorate.

Bill Clinton came from a broken home in rural Arkansas.
With the help of scholarships, he attended Georgetown University, where he earned a B.S. degree in Foreign Service, and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
He was a Rhoades Scholar and studied at Oxford.
He earned his law degree from Yale.

He was Governor of Arkansas for 12 years.
He reformed their educational system, and served as Chairman of the National Governors Association.

Largely meaningless. He made some minor changes in the education system and then basically sat on his ass for half a decade waiting for a chance to become president.

And anyone can obtain college degrees.

    As indeed you are proof.

But going to Georgetown, Oxford and Yale on scholarships is no easy feat.

Remind us again of the esteemed institution you studied with?

Can anyone really be qualified for this job? Sure it helps to know your way around Washington and the other world leaders. Or to have at least a basic understanding on how an economy works. But you'll need advisers and specialists anyway because nobody can know everything about all the stuff a presidency involves. So it comes down to visions. The ideal president is not a technician but a visionary. The perfect US president is probably somebody like (South African) Elon Musk.

While that may be true if you're talking about getting a bachelor's degree from Anytown College in Whereversville, not just anyone can graduate from Georgetown, become a Rhodes Scholar, or make it through Yale Law.

My mistake. Dayton3 is not a member of the protected class on Wordforge. Therefore it's perfectly acceptable to dehumanize him at will.

Can we really not agree that the usual range of Red Room insults (of which there are many, for posters of all political persuasions) is not the same as the shit Ramen pulled with the lynching photo?

What Tuckerfan did was neither a flame nor a troll. He dehumanized Dayton3 using Dayton3's real life medical issues.

What Ramen did was overt racism.

    See this is the rule:

Overt Racist or Dehumanizing Content Will not be Tolerated.

The key word in that sentence is OR.

So both Ramen and Tuckerfan broke the rule. Just in different ways.

But as we know Dayton3 is not favored by Gul so it's okay to break a rule when it's Dayton3 that is the target.

No significant experience outside of running for and serving in office. No significant political experience outside of executive positions.
