What strikes me as odd about the executive order is how selective it is. Saudi Arabia, the country that produced the 9/11 terrorists, is off the list. UK dual citizens are banned but not Canadian dual citizens.

The countries selected are currently countries where the United States has a great deal of trouble vetting anyone due to lack of records in the country.

Saudi Arabia is not on the list because as scummy as they may be they keep records. Enough records to do proper background checks. They haven't produced any more 9/11 terrorists because they got their intelligence act together and they do work with the United States. We can vet people coming from Saudi Arabia.

Even less likely now. The Russians need the Saudis to sell less oil, since they can't compete on price right now. Until now, they lacked any leverage there, but the US has plenty. Saudi Arabia not being on the list means the Russians we want them to do something. My guess is less oil production, meaning higher pump prices but happy Russians.

That explains 15 months of the vetting process. It doesn't explain why anyone from those countries should not be admitted access to the US after being vetted.

I thought our embassy's were involved with vetting overseas. You make it seem like people just show up at airport and self proclaim refugee status.

Our people are there. A system is in place. They have been approved on that side. That's how they get on the plane. The opposition here is ignoring various aspects of the process. My guy customs says that Trump has thrown a monkey wrench into the works.

When I get the chance I will try to get more on the process when people land with correct papers. The major problem here is that Trumps action has only affected the process on the US side.

In simple terms...if you can't fly to California then you shouldn't be sold a ticket to fly there.
