Generally, I'd say that teens who saw themselves as having a future with someone of the same gender have a brighter outlook on life, rather than just being seen by the governing authority as walking, talking sins to be denied happiness, and basic humanity.

No one wants anyone to kill themself. But people disagreeing with a particular lifestyle should not make one commit suicide any more than losing a job or getting divorced. That's just weakness.

    Everyone has weaknesses TLS.

Be that as it may though there is no reason to make someones life any worse than it has to be.

Agreed. We all do. But life is about getting up when you get knocked down as much as anything else.

Or maybe we as a society can pick better crosses to nail ourselves on.

Two dudes boning one another doesn't hurt anything. So long as people do their jokes and leave the theatrics at home, who cares? It ain't worth disowning a child over.

That's your opinion and you're welcome to it. I agree with your last sentence at least.

yeah as a parent I don't get the "disowning a child" thing. :jayzus: I wouldn't be overjoyed if my kids were gay (because life is tough and there are a lot of mean people out there) but gay kids would need constant support from their parents as much as any kid does. Sure grandkids are great, but my kids are under no obligation to have kids of their own - it's not like humans are going extinct anytime soon. Actually I don't want to even think about my kids having sex under under any circumstances because it creeps me out. I'm sure the thought of me and my wife having sex creeps them out too. I knew a guy in the army whose mom made some MILF porn and he wasn't bothered by it, but it would still seem  to me.

Then you should support gay marriage.

I do not believe committed homosexual relationships should be considered a "marriage". And even if it makes some people feel better about themselves that doesn't change.

The law should not be about making certain groups "feel better".

So, tell me what's the harm in making it legal.

The government gets a ten percent increase in taxable married couples, the wedding sector gets a boom in revenue and more states allowing married gays to adopt gets more kids out of foster care.

Seems like a win to me.

I see you're quoting that old claim about "homosexuals are 10% of the population".

Aside from a deeply flawed and largely discredited study from Masters & Johnson there is IIRC little evidence of that.

I'm pretty certain other studies have estimated the number at more like 3-4%.

The number is irrelevant. No harm is done by gays getting married. Period.
