Most of the time if these "news sources" report actual news fairly it's entirely coincidental, a random event, like the stopped clock.

It turns out Trump was right about one thing: that he could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot someone and not lose any supporters.

Half of his apologists would stick their fingers in their ears and start shrieking "FAKE NEWS!!!!!!" and half would twist themselves into knots claiming that whoever he shot must have deserved it.

First of all, bad simile is bad: a stopped clock isn't a random event.

Secondly, for the class, please present one current story from any of these sources that you consider false.

Bonus points if you can ignore all the "mistakes" Fox "accidentally" made labelling scandal-ridden politicians with D instead of R when Obama was in power.

My favorite is Fox in 2012 showing every republican in polls and one guy had higher polls than everyone except Romney, they never showed his name, but it was Ron Paul.

Your bad luck, the "Big news" of the hour was the DNC election. But anyway the one hour below of CNN through 3:40 pm central is basically the Democrat News Network by any (clear-eyed) measure.

But I'll maybe try a smaller block of time (for my sanity, this shit rots the mind faster than weed) in future if I'm flipping around and the point is made particularly gross in the "reporting" or "coverage" CNN claims to present. Or why don't you give two half-hour periods for me to check out tomorrow?; if I'm around, I'll try for one.

What did you mean by "actual news fairly"? I took that to mean "factual." Did you have some other meaning in mind? I'm having trouble parsing your sentences.

If those sources present alternative facts 99.86% of the time (assuming a stopped clock is accurate for 2 minutes a day with no second-hand) your assignment should be easy.

I wouldn't subject myself to watching CNN so please choose freely from your other sources. Printed material is often easier to work with.
