To give a derp-free answer, he did manage to clear out most of the troops in Iraq. Took a while, but then I never expected it to happen overnight anyway.

They've been going back, but not in nearly enough numbers to keep the Middle East from burning. When Obama and Kerry botched their red line in Syria, the White House spokesmen kept saying that it wasn't a failure, that failure would be seeing the conflict widen into a regional Sunni/Shia conflict. Well, despite setting the bar as low as it could possibly go, they still abjectly failed.

Obama pulled U.S. troops out of Iraq on the timetable Bush put into place.

Uh, no. Obama pulled out all the troops. Bush was going to leave behind a stabilizing force of 15,000 or more.

    In fact, Bush said:

To begin withdrawing before our commanders tell us we are ready would be dangerous for Iraq, for the region and for the United States. It would mean surrendering the future of Iraq to Al Qaeda. It would mean that we’d be risking mass killings on a horrific scale. It would mean we allow the terrorists to establish a safe haven in Iraq to replace the one they lost in Afghanistan. It would mean we’d be increasing the probability that American troops would have to return at some later date to confront an enemy that is even more dangerous.

Bush is either way better than Nostradamus, or he's Einstein, or Obama was an idiot or determined to bring about chaos, failure, and bloodshed.

    Stop. Lying.

Article 24, Section 1 of the 2008 SOFA (Status of Forces Agreement), signed by Bush in August of that year:

Recognizing the performance and increasing capacity of the Iraqi Security Forces, the assumption of full security responsibility by those Forces, and based upon the strong relationship between the Parties, an agreement on the following has been reached:

1.All the United States Forces shall withdraw from all Iraqi territory no later than December 31, 2011.

Here, let me help you identify the important bit:

1.All the United States Forces shall withdraw from all Iraqi territory no later than December 31, 2011.

    Just to be sure:

1.All the United States Forces shall withdraw from all Iraqi territory no later than December 31, 2011.

Hey bitches, I'm the only one allowed to ramble aimlessly in my whiskeh thread. If you want to debate RR stuff, start a thread in the RR and GTFO. Either that or get loaded on bourbon or scotch and post something I haven't heard you shills post 1000x before.

No bourbon or scotch tonight. Closest are the sips of Fireball I steal from my brother when I go downstairs (our shared laundry is on their floor). Other than that just Michelob Ultra (both of us bought some for my dad when my parents came out last week, got a case left over). It tastes like a mixture of beer and the near beer you get while on deployment. :euch:

And that means that we were going to leave about 15,000 troops behind in the parts of Iraq that weren't "Iraqi territory", namely four US bases. Unfortunately Obama scorched that idea. As the UK Guardian reported

John McCain, one of the leading foreign affairs specialists in the Senate and Obama's Republican opponent in the 2008 White House race, said: "Today marks a harmful and sad setback for the United States in the world. I respectfully disagree with the president: this decision will be viewed as a strategic victory for our enemies in the Middle East, especially the Iranian regime, which has worked relentlessly to ensure a full withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq."

Mitt Romney, front-runner in the race to take on Obama in the 2012 White House race, said: "The unavoidable question is whether this decision is the result of a naked political calculation or simply sheer ineptitude in negotiations with the Iraqi government."

And McCain was one-hundred percent right, as was Bush. Iran succeeded and the administration failed, or rather the administration worked to support Iran at the expense of the US and our allies, just as Romney indicated. It was as if they knew exactly what was going to happen - because it was obviously going to happen. Meanwhile Obama wrecked our alliances, played lots of golf, and got butt fucked time and again by the Iranians, while overseeing the collapse of the age of the Middle Eastern nation state.

Yeah, I know pilots who are 80+ years old and still pretty spry and mentally as sharp as a 20-year-old.

Except for the ones who have major political hangups. Those don't seem to be so long for this world. :bergman:

It's a red-shouldered hawk. We had one land in the neighbor's tree, right above her garage, and it sat there for half an hour. My neighbor is a professional photographer, so I knocked on her door and pointed at the hawk. She came back with her camera and a telephoto lens that was about a foot long and started snapping picture, some from as close as maybe twelve feet. Unfortunately, the hawk in the avatar isn't one of her shots, as she just gave us the prints. But had she given us the files (I keep forgetting to ask about them), it would look much like what I'm using.

The hawk and its mate kept returning to our neighborhood for weeks.

Somebody not on ignore, ask him how he feels about the latest revelation that Russia was/is paying bounties to Afghan militants to kill US soldiers?
Also, ask him the follow-up question, how does he like that ass-to-mouth taste of being spit-roasted by Trump and Putin?
Is it yummy, like pizza, or is it like Doctor Pepper and coffee, that you have to adjust to it?

    That's actually a bit of a shame.
I mean, I have access to some pretty decent whiskies (even if I'll never have your level of connoisseur-ship) and know how to enjoy a couple or twelve.
But I try not to that often because frankly the line between "fun drunk" and "asshole who will regret this tomorrow" drunk is about 2 ounces.

Weed, on the other hand, let's me keep my head. Like the difference between "I am so fucking buzzed :diacanu: " and "Ahh'm fine. gonna drive hom nao."

It's rare to make a choice without first considering that I'm high and best take a second to assess my responses.

Seriously man... once you finally retire. Light one.

And then a few hours later, maybe another.
