Concept F-52 Gen 6 fighter that I took the digital 'modelling knife' to and reworked the tail area a bit, knocked down the poly-count, and then converted it to a game model. I've got this ship stat'd in game as a raw fighter/interceptor- faster than stink, afterburner (SLAM in XWA), centerline cannons, and concussion missiles. Slightly faster and more maneuverable than a stock X-Wing Alliance A-wing. When you kick in that SLAM system (originally designed for the Imperial Missile Boat), her speed kicks up to over 200 MGLT.

Rework of the stock Chig fighter. Not the prettiest design ever, but definitely non-human in its look. Screenshot (124).png Screenshot (126).png

Thanks to the stimulus checks they've been sending out, I've finally been able to replace the 10-year-old laptop. Usually when I buy a computer my budget is like $700, which allows for "better than I was using before but not exactly great." This time, with a $1200 budget, I was able to get "not quite top-of-the-line but very decent."

To start with I got Fallout 4, The Outer Worlds, and Skyrim Special Edition. Skyrim I played for like 20 minutes just to see what it's like on a computer that can run it without struggling, but I just played through it not to long ago so it'll probably be a while before I sit and play through it again. Between Fallout 4 and The Outer Worlds, I'll be busy for a while.

picked up X-com:enemy unknown/within about a week ago. not overly in depth, but fun and pretty. I'll probably plunk down my credits next time X-2 come sup for 75% off again.

likewise, bought myself Railway Empire when it finally dropped under $20 :eh:
still figuring it out, but it's no Railroad Tycoon 2 (still the most perfect train game ever).

Into the mission building phase on the SAAB mission set for XWA.

It's not a true 100% total conversion, but it will have ships, music, sound fx, and audio clips from the show. Some 'front end' musical changes as well to the mission briefings, debriefings, and you get to listen to 'Never No More' by Patsy Cline when you're in your quarters aboard ship.

5 missions completed of probably 15 or so (maybe a couple additional 'short' missions for storytelling purposes). Breaking them up into three 'Battles', XWA style.

First Battle: "Remember Tellus" From the first encounters with the Chigs up through the 'Battle of the Belt', or the end of the pilot episode.

Second Battle: "The Farthest Man From Home" A Guadalcanal-esque campaign set in a star system with 2 habitable planets, where players will get to know the landmarks (and hazards) as they chew some of the same scenery in multiple regions and missions. Will make use of at least one planetary opt set as well.

Third Battle: "On to Victory!" The wrap up, which will include the player encountering and having to vanquish Chiggy von Richtofen, the deadly enemy ace flying a new prototype Chig fighter.

Hopefully I'll be able to get this all set up with a 1-click installer, and hosted at either (or both) revamped versions of a couple past XWA websites: Vince T's X-Wing HQ (https://www.vxhq.net/) or Ace Antilles' X-wing station, currently under rebuild. I've created/converted a complete set of SAAB game models for this that I don't think anyone else has ever done for a space-sim type of game. (Homeworld is RTS and does not count). Anyway, I've had a heck of a time with it during 'lockdown.'

'Redtail' Chig fighter seen in the episode 'Ray Butts.' These had the added thrust and speed to run an intercept on the hammerheads across a gravitational 'black hole wash.'

Chiggy Von Richtofen's prototype, final form. I'm not 100% happy with the textures, but the craft will only appear in the 3 missions, and when it does, the player is going to be waaaaay to busy to get a close up look, unless it's right before they get smoked.

I blasted through TOR at the start of lockdown. Sith Inquisitor feels way OP compared to any of the Jedi classes as you can spam force lightning abilities at multiple targets via AoE - the Jedi don't seem to have an easy AoE rotation that doesn't involve knowing their combat specialisation trees inside out.

Haven't subbed. Unfortunately the recent XP boost event meant I hit max free level well before finishing even the basic missions. I've still got Shadows of Revan and The Hutt Cartel to access FTP but got a bit bored with it. Maybe when my lightsaber prop finally arrives it'll spark a renewed effort... but the company are backlogged up the wazoo due to COVID.

Chipping my way through Ori a few minutes a day when I can. Just got double-jump so I should be safe to go in Blackthorn if I feel like it.

Such a gorgeous game, visually and in design. I feel that I've made a lot of progress, and at the same time Ori still feels so fragile, and not because the enemies got arbitrarily kicked up a few notches. I guess I'm trying to say the power curve is an achievement in itself.

Close to cancelling though - 8 weeks now and their customer service is non-existent.... three emails and two attempts at FB messenger... I know they are backlogged out the wazoo due to Xmas over-ordering and COVID, but an update email takes a minute at most...

Nice... I've been thinking of investing in one myself. Lemme know how satisfactory it is once it does arrive.

Finally got a decent sale on the BSG: Deadlock S1 pack. Seriously improves the game in both units and difficulty. Started the campaign over and it's complexity triples.

Likewise, got the expansions for Frostpunk-a prequel and yet to be released epilogue to the original new steampunk (and my gods, someone used the term accurately in describing the game) ice age setting.

It's shipped so I'll give an update when it gets here, but I've read some reviews of the company by former employees and the business practices sound quite bad even beyond their poor customer service, so I won't buy from them again. Basically a sweatshop.

Broke down and bought that cyberpunk XboneX and Took a second shot at Fable 3. It was alright and I see where they were going with that twist, but getting the good ending is just repetitive padding and the mechanics are extremely dumbed down from 2.

Speaking of the XboneX, I got curious and threw my GTA San Andreas original x-box disc into it. It downloaded the 360 version. So I'm playing on my Xbox 1x the xbox 360 version of a game off the original xbox disc.

Tried the Ring of PAAAAAAAIN demo. It's a fun twist on dungeon-diving and looks good, but the demo is just the first level and it's already nearly 1.5 gigs.

bought a thing called "Space Haven" last week. So far the only goal is to find the new home for humanity. There's a bit of a Firefly vibe they went for.

There's a somewhat retro look to it best described as Sim City 2K meets a tomagatchi with a resource/building chain and occasional RTS combat...

you start with a small grid and build a ship from there, expanding in size and abilities until it's somewhat self sufficient. still in development, I guess, as there are several things that you just don't or can't use yet and there's next to no tutorials or in game descriptions (like what the fuck are super blocks ?)

supposedly you can build up to having multiple ships and either raid or ally with other factions... I'm not that far along yet but reading the discussions on steam that's still buggy too.

There's potential for this game as they've laid the groundwork to have a lot of options, but it's still a rough cut.

It's worth wishlisting, but if you want more than a time killer wait a few more months.

Skyrim is just as drab in person as it looks from afar

Let this world end, maybe the next one will have more than two colors

At least the talking faces aren't as uncanny valley as in the other Elder Scrolls game KJ was playing
