Turns out the kids didn't need Harry to save them from a would-be Scorpio killer.

I bet one of those questions was a math problem: "a bus travels north at 7:15 traveling 50 MPH. A police car five miles away travels south etc etc"
Another question might be "dude.....who the fuck cut your hair?"

Regardless knowing the Army he probably got in the most trouble for driving a bus without proper training. :brood: Option B his rifle's buffer spring wasn't polished.

A school bus is a terrible get away vehicle.

My guess is that losing his rifle would be even worse than driving a bus without proper training.

Had a buddy who did that (didn't have his locker properly locked, and while they were busy with something the guys came through and confiscated all the unsecured rifles). He had to do 500 pushups...

 it was a joke. I'm quite aware that "losing a rifle" (actually the opposite - he sorta found a rifle!) is a big deal. The joke is that the army has a longstanding tradition of ignoring the painfully obvious crime while stressing out over the less important stuff. Ask a vet - they'll explain it.

My local news had an interview with one of the kids' parents and showed the bus security video. Anyway the soldier had only been in basic training for three weeks and wanted out of the Army.
All he had to do was say "fuck this shit! I hate the Army and I want out!" and he would be gone, just like that. No repercussions, no criminal charges, just a "doesn't adjust to military life" discharge.
It's like getting a quickie marriage annulled. Despite a million you tube videos telling young people what to expect when they sign up, some people still can't handle the shock of military life.

Then the media got something wrong :sigh: they said he didn't have bullets because the Army doesn't give bullets to trainees.
Sorry that's not how it works. Trainees do indeed get bullets AT THE RIFLE RANGE just like everyone else in the Army. NOBODY is allowed to run around with bullets unless you are at the range.
It's a huge safety liability - it's pure insanity to not have positive control over the ammo. Sometimes soldiers (especially trainees) need to take their rifles back to the barracks or other area under NCO supervision for extra cleaning & training. But nobody has access to bullets in a situation like that, no matter how long you've been in the army.

Only under special circumstances - like being deployed to a combat zone or other dangerous area for example - will soldiers walk around with bullets at the ready 24/7.

So basically the bonehead didn't like the Army, so now I guess he'll like prison even less. He's charged with kidnapping (a charge for every kid on the bus and the driver) car jacking, and a couple of other things. Taking government property off the post without authorization is a Federal Offense right there.
He went from a "better luck in your future endeavors, fella" to the big house.

Given how WoW likes to incorporate other media into it's world, it very well could be. However, katie kaboom was a short in the animaniacs.

So was "losing his rifle". In fact, it was the same joke: the army would care more about its own details than the crime committed.

You ought to be able to recognize your own joke, son, without having to facepalm it...

Whatever - I didn't recognize your sarcasm/humor in "My guess is that losing his rifle would be even worse than driving a bus without proper training." No offense but you are a civilian and a lot of them really have no idea how the U.S. army actually functions.

That aside this soldier is completely and utterly fucked like Chuck. State charges, Federal charges, and the Army itself (via the UCMJ) could all conceivably get a piece of him.
I know a guy who got the trifecta of the State of Kentucky charges, State of Tennessee charges and U.S. Army charges from the same non-violent crime spree. Yes, he did time in all three correctional systems consecutively. :jayzus:

oh definitely he deserves it. On the bright side it's better that this loose cannon had his career nipped in the bud now rather than wasting an insane amount of resources training & educating him.
The military can test your physical (and to some degree mental) capability to serve, but not your psychological state. Obviously once you go off they deep end they might give you a psych evaluation,
but it's a little late in the game then. :( Just glad nobody got hurt by this rocket scientist. I've personally known experienced NCO's and officers who did way worse stuff than this, so these kinds of things aren't that surprising really.

I'm just asking! Post kindergarten, my kids went to grade school, middle school, high school then technical training/college. I've never heard the term "primary" before in the educational arena.
