At least, that's what's down over at Parler and Qdom. They were all told the apocalypse was coming this week, and that it would start with social media outages.

Let's hope they aren't taking any actual action that is even more stupid than their normal day to days.

It is a strange strategy but we'll see if facebook can pull it off.

I sense a disturbance in the force like a billion boomers calling their grandchildren to whine about not being able to read anti-vax memes and Qspiracy posts.

News just in that facebook had recently moved their DNS servers to Norphlet Arkansas where a local village idiot was hired from their high school phys ed program to monitor them.

Fuck! I now have this urge to know exactly what my friends are eating at this moment. I do not know how we ever lived without this.

That's just because the stock price is dropping, BTW. No telling about the loss of revenues caused by people not being served ads and other business functions being wiped out. I wonder if anyone will be able to successfully sue FB over this outage?

Yesterday I saw an interview with Zuck from right when Facebook was getting started.

Guy’s got billions of dollars and still has the exact same fucked-up haircut.

I mean it may not be quite as bad as the one Raiders owner Mark Davis has, but it’s pretty fucking close. :jayzus:

That's because he's modeling himself after Augustus Caesar.

Oh, and the site's back up, but it's glitchy. I hope they get it fixed soon, as I'm waiting to find out if a longtime friend of mine has died or not.

I'm sure the Android will come out with a statement tomorrow apologizing about how people couldn't troll each other for a full day.

OMG that was the scariest 2 minutes of my life. It was like someone unplugged the world and I had to stop paying attention to the box that tells me everything.

I almost got vaccinated. I didn't know what to do.

Hmm, the kitchen doesn't offend me.
The Zuck being in there does :ramen:

(The cupboards could stand to have a little more creative molding but eh, it works)

Someone pushed bad BGP settings which FB’s upstream providers listened to, resulting in no possible routing to FB. This made worse by the fact that FB does all its own internal comms and physical security — building doors and conference rooms — over its own systems, so they locked themselves out of their buildings and couldn’t talk to each other.

That shouldn't impact the features of the site itself though. It's back up now, but with only the 3 original reaction emojis, like, love, and ha-ha. That sure seems like having to restore from old code. Considering the timing, that's pretty damn coincidental.

All of Facebook runs on a server in some guy's closet in Serbia, on an old copy of Windows98.

Gee, it'd be a real shame if they lost all that user data they've been collecting for the past decade, wouldn't it?
