I must have missed where you've refuted any of the facts behind those things, because all I remember seeing is you whining about how they make you feel bad and the world should be taught in a way that protects your feelings.

TLDR version for the cocksuckers who won't watch the vid.
Even the fucker who admittedly manufactured this panic admits, this is all to try to create voucher schools, and voucher schools will brainwash kids that slavery was a-okay.
This isn't a tinfoil theory, we have one of their textbooks as evidence.
So, once again, every accusation from a conservative is a confession.

Well, in the video you can hear the bigot ask if CRT should be taught in schools, and Beto responds that he doesn't think it should be taught in schools.

Now, I want CRT to be taught in elementary, middle, and high schools, and any politician or public personality who is serious about black lives actually mattering should want CRT to be taught in schools. Beto was for it, now he's against it, not because he's taking a principled stance that has the foundation of reason and caution behind it, but because he's an empty suited weiner who has the backbone of a marshmallow. This is why I get so frustrated with the Democratic party. It's always "we'll fight for you!" and then when it comes down to hitting the mat, they'll often tap out with a "we tried, sorry, vote for us lol."

I would like him to clarify that one. I do not think the college level CRT course in law school should be in high school. I could see it being in law school, but even for an AP class in high school they should focus on fundamental associate level basics. I would also like to hear what he thinks of de-whitewashing history class in high school before passing judgment.

I will say I would be for him lying to the right and then screwing them when in office to get votes, but I have come to realize that is not going to get you any votes as a dem and if this is what he is doing he is only damaging his rep with his own party.

It depends what you are defining CRT as. If it is the college level course I have seen described, then no. If it is teaching the truth about american racism in history class then yes we should be teaching that.

I am fucking sick to death that we ever celebrated columbus day and put him as some sort of hero. That dude should be up there with Hitler and Vlad the impaler for sick fucks. The slave trade cannot be taught as some sort of benign form of benefit to black americans. It was cruel and sick. The cruelty was the point for a lot of the people who participated in the trade. They were not thinking how can we make things better for these people, they were focussed on how can we break these people which attracts sadistic cruel people.

So we should get a lot more ho9nest with the teaching of US history, especially it's racist parts. That is not a theory either. That is critical race fact. Seeing how the red scum interprets the word theory we need to not use that word in this instance. It is not like the theory of evolution or gravity. These are motivations we know to be fact.

Yup... recognizing manifest destiny and lebensraum are pretty much the same thing is something any grade 8 kid should be capable of.
    Likewise with segregation and apartheid.
    These are basic concepts.

The deep dives of where those came from, what motivated codifying them, and how they play a continuing role today-that's the post secondary discussions to be had.

Bizarre. CRT isn't being taught except at graduate level work in US schools. This isn't due to bias or discrimination, it's the judgment of the educators themselves that it's not a useful resource at that level.

So why would you stake the position against the teachers in a place that would also lose you votes for other reasons?

I'm all for Beto actually getting elected.

I admit I'm late to the program, but I find more and more I agree with Obama - 'wokeness' simply loses elections.

You can be for equality and the teaching of real history without saying you want CRT in schools, when the educators have already decided CRT shouldn't be taught at anything other than the post-graduate level.

That is great and all, but you need to include the reality that this confusion is for the purposes of racism. The very fact that people are against it fucks with people in ways you do not understand or even want to admit to.

I'm pretty sure that when people talk about "CRT in schools" they mean "the implications of CRT," not actually the theory. (I also thought we had established this, but who knows.)

By implications, I mean the concept that there are a bunch of racist policies in place that have resulted in a bunch of inequity.

White people seem to have a problem with that implication.

The rich have a vested interest in screaming it down, because inequality is how they got rich.

The Karens and Kevins want to scream it down, because living in a fairy-tale version of America is apparently all that keeps a gun out of heir mouths.

And which one do you think Beto meant? The definition of CRT as espoused by the ignorant right, or the actual definition of CRT?

Which thing do you think he was saying he supported, not putting in post-graduate level studies in middle school, or blocking all depictions of racism in American history?

    Ah, the Fox News approach.

O'Rourke said specifically that CRT isn't currently being taught in public schools, and that it's only taught in law school. He then agreed that CRT should not be taught in public schools.

Pretty clear to any objective person that he's not backing far right talking points.

If your statement is that there are a lot of ignorant people out there that opine about shit they clearly don't know about, I'd agree with that.

But all the far right headlines that O'Rourke has 'backtracked' or supported their BS is obvious fake news.

I think you give them too much credit. They only have shame over being racist because they have to mingle with those people on occasion. If they did not have to see a black person again they would be proud as fuck about their racism.

Yeah, Beto's got a real opportunity to co-opt the "unintended consequences" meme that Republicans love (and they're generally right about). "Look, teachers and educators don't want to teach CRT already. Why would you want to pass a law that stops them from doing something they're not doing, especially when similar laws elsewhere are having unintended consequences?"

This is blunted somewhat by the fact that Texas's version is one of the least objectionable, but it's still an option.

Essentially this. CRT can be adjusted for all ages across all education levels, and it would start by removing the bullshit surrounding colonization of the Americas. CRT is not only relevant as history, but as a method of closely examining current US policy, because our history is rooted in white supremacy, that is the core foundation of our country, unpleasant truth that it is aside. To sidestep this, as Beto does by mealy mouthing his lukewarm support with a bigot in the audience, or to downplay it is to reinforce those white supremacist positions, to buy into the idea that CRT is something too difficult for children to understand. It's yet one more way to prevent critical thought directed at US history from gaining a foothold.

If at such a young age we can be told the lie of the pilgrims and the indigenous natives helping each other as a Thanksgiving tale, then we can be told the truth, and should be told the truth.

Well, I'll give this to you - you are consistent.

Edward Winslow, in Mourt's Relation wrote:

Our harvest being gotten in, our governor sent four men on fowling, that so we might after a special manner rejoice together after we had gathered the fruits of our labor. They four in one day killed as much fowl as, with a little help beside, served the company almost a week. At which time, amongst other recreations, we exercised our arms, many of the Indians coming amongst us, and among the rest their greatest king Massasoit, with some ninety men, whom for three days we entertained and feasted, and they went out and killed five deer, which we brought to the plantation and bestowed on our governor, and upon the captain and others. And although it be not always so plentiful as it was at this time with us, yet by the goodness of God, we are so far from want that we often wish you, partakers of our plenty.

Mourt's Relation was originally a pamphlet published in 1622 about Plymouth Colony, and specifically their relationship with the natives.
