No I didn’t miss that. The point is that Disney voluntarily takes certain things out of their movies if China doesn’t like it, including gay characters. Or they minimize it.

Yeah I think it's more because Disney has been around for almost a century and has been advertising for a good chunk of that. Netflix certainly relies more on word of mouth.

The thing is that everyone knows Netflix has Stranger Things, but there’s plenty of other good shows that people are less aware of. You basically have to scroll forever to find something you like. Netflix is the Walmart DVD bin of streaming services.
