In case folks were seriously curious, the FLNG was doing a rotation in Ukraine prior to the invasion helping train up their artillery. Even though at the time it was using their weapons, they at least already have that working relationship. And are also still in Europe which makes getting to Europe much easier.

HMMMM.... It is the Daily Fail, but still :corn:

New York (Knewz) — Vladimir Putin’s cancer surgery will force him to hand over power in the Ukraine war “for days,” a “Kremlin insider” told the Daily Mail.

Putin will reportedly put hardline Security Council head and ex-FSB chief Nikolai Patrushev in power while he is dealing with surgery. Patrushev, 70, has played a big role in the Ukraine war thus far and convinced Putin that Kyiv is overrun by neo-Nazis, the Daily Mail reports.

A year and a half ago, General SVR reported that Putin is suffering from abdominal cancer and Parkinson’s. The Daily Mail reports that Putin has put off the surgery and it won’t happen before the Victory Day commemoration of Russia’s World War II victory in Red Square on May 9.

The source added: “I don’t know for exactly how long [he will be incapacitated after the surgery … I think it’ll be for a short time.”

I wonder if the surgical team will be chosen on the basis of competence or political reliability. :chris:

This isn’t a dick measuring/who really won the war thing.

If the Soviet mythology of The Great Patriotic War really did downplay or ignore the US’s industrial might/logistical magic that kept them in the war then there is a good chance they overestimated their equipment/supply lines and underestimated what we could bring to bare when necessary.

Very good chance that's how Stalin went out. He purged quite a few prominent physicians during the supposed Doctor's Plot. Then he was planning on doing it again. The next time he fell ill he didn't recover.

Sure. But while the Russians continue to downplay it for their national narrative, it's pretty much over when Khruschev writes in his memoirs that Stalin told him that without Lend-Lease the Soviet Union would have lost the war. Stalin said the same thing in front of Churchill and FDR personally at the Tehran conference.

Of course, the opening stages of the war would have gone considerably differently if the Soviet Unions weren't helping the Nazis, including giving them a U-boat base on Russian soil (Basis Nord) and supplying them with their own version of Lend-Lease to defeat the French and British blockade.

The fact that we are officially calling the billions we are sending to Ukraine lend-lease once again should send a shiver down the back of every Russian soldier.

Looks like Russia decided to tow some Ukrainian tractors in a bit of turnabout.

Only problem is, when they got them to their destination, they couldn't use them. Modern tractors can be disabled remotely.
