Be glad it's only jokes about being a kid. Some of us have gotten photoshopped porn pics thrown our way for the unforgivable sin of disagreeing with the mods. The reason no one uses that to weaponise against me is because I threw a at the post and went about my way. As you should.
Boy you're just hoping so fervently that there will be one so you can blame Biden. As far as using interest rates to control inflation, this article does a good job of talking about this "blunt instrument" and it's likely collateral damage. Whether or not the Fed causes a recession is debatable, economists say. But the Fed’s actions will have consequences — it’s just a matter to what degree. Few can argue that the financial system still needs access to the punchbowl at a time when consumer price gains in March hit another 40-year high of 8.5 percent. Fed Chair Jerome Powell himself said the economy is strong enough to withstand tighter monetary policy, and policymakers are betting that they can let some air out of the balloon without completely popping it. “No one expects that bringing about a soft landing will be straightforward in the current context,” Powell said in a March 21 speech. “My colleagues and I will do our very best to succeed in this challenging task.”
Nope, I just didn't see anyone else talking about it. This board is extremely left leaning so most of the threads are about how bad Trump and Republicans are. Besides, you'd think a looming recession would be something important to discuss. I bet if Trump were still President there would be at least five threads about it.
“extremely left leaning”? As far as I know, RickDeckard is the only extreme leftist on the board. Aside from him, I’d say I was the next furthest left and I’m not nearly as extreme as I used to be.
Oh. Wait. I just remembered, Amaris has bypassed me on the left. So, that’s only 3. Most everyone else is closer to the center.
There's also @Diacanu , @Tuckerfan, @Fisherman's Worf @Shirogayne, @Bailey, @14thDoctor, @Spaceturkey, @MikeH92467 , @Ancalagon , @Bickendan, @matthunter ,@tafkats, @Rincewien, @Faceman and @armalyte though he doesn't post much here. All left wingers.
Matthunter's British. Riencewind's Dutch. 14th and Turkey are Canuckistanis. Bailey's Aussie. They're left compared to the broad sense of the US spectrum, but be careful as to labeling them as leftists. Armalyte's scandanavian, and is probably the true leftist of ForeignForge. Also, Face is probably more left leaning centrist.
I'm pretty hard left by 'merkin measures but you guys use some variation of imperial where ya fucked it up like ya did spelling to measure with, so your kilometers may vary.
And? 12 years ago, the majority at Wordforge were pretty right leaning (including a now out of the closet white nationalist, racists, slavery apologists, etc.). Would you prefer it were more like it was 12 years ago? 12 years ago I considered myself a libertarian. But then I started learning more about the world around me. People change and grow (hopefully).
...and as were Kolkata Calcutta, Mumbai Bombay, Chennai Madrid, Côte d'Ivore Ivory Coast, Czechia Czech Republic, Türkiye Turkey, Istanbul Constantinople, Paris Lutetia. I don't think you're making the point you think you're making.
exactly... 15 years ago I was pretty anarcho-capitalist as an extension of my views on civil liberty. then I thought about it for a while and realized that "the freer the market, the freer the people" was bullshit and actually created greater entrenched inequities.
In the minds of any American who follows trump, Fox News, or Rush Limbaugh, "the left" are destroying the country.
That rhetoric is repetitive. If you want a good exercise in stupidity, just browse through any msn.com comment section in any news article they post. It's like getting lost in a maze of twisty passages, all the same.
The difference is, the Right actually ARE destroying the country. Look at McConnel - holding up legislation just to show everyone how much power he has. Look at any congressperson who participated in the Jan 6 insurrection. Look at the hate-filled nonsense spewn (spewed?) from every pulpit across the US.
I'm totally in agreement. I'm glad some of the truth of what happened finally got put into words last night. It's a relief, actually.
The beginning was long and boring. But when Cheney took the mic it got interesting. She was unafraid and unabashed that Trump was the epicenter of this event, from start to finish. That it wasn't a spontaneous event at all, but rather carefully planned. That his own team thought his claims and actions were "bullshit" as Bill Barr actually said on video. His daughter said she believed it was wrong. His inner circle begged him to tell the crowd to stand down. Then Caroline Edwards testified. That was the BEST part of this segment for me. She was there, she saw everything. She got a concussion and chemical burns in the process. (No weapons indeed) Nick Quested's videos were amazing. The place was a fucking mob scene and everyone was out of control angry. Basically the rhetoric was Trump knew he lost and incited the crowd to storm the Capitol to stop the certification. It seems the Proud Boys were dispatched up front to scope out the Capitol ahead of the crowd. Crazy stuff.
Do you not understand what the electorate consists of? Well, yes. I wonder who's failed to deliver on increased wages? "But the Republicans are standing in the way!" Yeah, they are. How hard have the Dems actually tried to work with them or around them, though? How much of their usual finger-pointing can they do when they own the White House and House and saw the Deep South hand them the tiebreaker in the Senate, then failed to push through a minimum wage hike that their supporters have been increasingly clamoring for for years and was one of their key promises this past election cycle? The Democrats should be steamrolling the Republicans on the economy now but both parties forgot long ago how to use their muscle to help America.
I think most voters are aware there are bigger issues. Not the least being that its not so much about the high costs of goods and services, rather the corporate imposed stagnation of worker wages.
It doesn't help that 2 of them are DINO's and actually republicans. Saying it's an evenly divided senate isn't really accurate. Not with Manchin and Sinema playing with the right.
I do hesitate to say Wordforge in general leans left, but it definitely isn't nearly as far right as it once was by virtue of osmosis, what with having the biggest, loudest right wing voices either fucking off after the board turned over to Anc or keeling over. No one runs campaigns specifically to run off lefties anymore, so there's that.
I think it's pretty well balanced these days. Most posters are center with a few right wing outliers and a few left wing outliers. The problem isn't the differences, it's that the differences are no longer tolerable. on either side.
