Leaving it up to the states, you’d be a slave. Haven’t you been saying for months, possibly years, that after taking a DNA test you discovered there is some African DNA in you. You’re black. You’re a slave. You have no voice. Your opinion means nothing. Is that what you want?

Shouldn’t you be spiking the football crowing about how many unwanted pregnancies and maternal deaths there are going to be?

Well it's religious discrimination to force religious schools to take the fags, so yeah, 1st Amendment rights and all. Besides, we can all agree that religious folk are suspect classifications needing strict scrutiny review which trumps whatever the fuck queers are with their, at best, intermediate scrutiny level of review.

I mean, I pretty much just wrote the outline for the decision right there.

Let's throw out a hypothetical. Say that in 2024 the GOP gains control of both houses of Congress and the Presidency. If, as some Republicans have said that they will do, they enact a national ban on abortion, and SCOTUS upholds it, will you object to it on the grounds that it violates state's rights?

Good. Now, what are you planning to do to ensure that we never get to that point? Because I cannot see how this will not be the case if Republicans manage to gain control of Congress and the White House for the next ten years, at minimum. Mind you, if all the polling says that VA will overwhelmingly vote for the Democratic Presidential candidate, I won't give two shits about who you vote for President. The Electoral College negates individual votes in most states, so no biggie if projections say that 60+% of voters in a particular state will opt for one Presidential candidate. Your voting for the Libertarian candidate won't change a thing. What I'm interested in is how you'll vote in the races where there's a narrow margin.

If the polling data indicates that a race is close between the Republican candidate and the Libertarian candidate, more power to you if you vote for the Libertarian candidate. But what if the race is close between the Republican candidate and the Democratic candidate, and the Libertarian is a distant third? Are you going to vote Libertarian, because like some posters here, you think taking a principled stand is more important than voting for a candidate who might actually win and slow the damage done to this country?

I honestly don’t know how to answer this. No bullshit. I have voted for the lesser of the two evils before and I was younger at the time, but I don’t like it. I think it’ll come down to Election Day for me. These are choices I don’t want to make. Would I rather vote my heart, yes. I guess we’ll see how Virginia goes.

Oh, I know. But, I also have gotten results of a DNA test and his might have like a 0.001% of some African nation. He’s being stupid, I know that. But, if he keeps telling everyone he’s black, then he needs to be treated as such.

Honestly, this whole "states rights" thing confuses me when it only seems to encourage suppressing individual rights supposedly guaranteed by the federal government/constitution.
No wonder y'all have HOAs to deal with... it's always about carving out unique privileges for well, the privileged.

Most people don’t even know that the Supreme Court chooses its own docket. And with a 6-3 majority the conservatives dictate most of it. That’s why these minor cases become sweeping nationwide changes.

In this case it was all about signaling to the Christian majority that they have the right to proselytize and invoke their religion in any government owned property. The rights of everyone else to be free from a government sanctioning of Christian religion are irrelevant.

Maybe it should happen and happen frequently enough that it delays games to the point that they are unwatchable and people who just want to watch the game and have a little fun end up getting pissed off that it stops. Take both politics and religion out of sports so we can go back to just enjoying the damn game. Unfortunately, politics has infested every aspect of our lives and I don’t see it ending any time soon.

How the hell does a supreme court justice not know a cross is a christian symbol. That in itself demonstrates his inability to think beyond his own internal/cultural beliefs and behaviors.

He knows. He doesn’t care. Not my usual take on things but I think it’s pretty clear in this case he’s just doing whatever the hell he wants before (hopefully) he’s impeached. I suspect it’s designed to punish all the talk of impeachment, but it could also be just how he is now that he has the votes.

I am coming around harder and harder to the realization that we have simply advanced so far from the methods established a few hundred years ago for dealing with government and life that the system is not able to be reformed to catch up.

The engine of government has clearly seized and we need a new one capable of modern efficiency and technology. What the founders of the US wrote was good for the time, but it is quaint and clearly restricting the growth of society.
