How about some kind of response any response to all the work @Order2Chaos put into showing you are full of shit.

Are you going to change any of your priors based on the evidence?

Or you just gonna pretend it never happened and go right back to dogmatic repetition of your racist dogwhistles?

Here it is again in case you missed it:

    Jesus fucking christ. :bang:

I didn't miss it. It could have been summed up with "the effect may not be as meaningful as you suspect. " Instead he made it a long-winded homework assignment where I am expected to what? Check his math?

He's actually painting a more dismal picture than I am anyway. Not sure why a fan of urban antpiles like you would want to draw attention to it...

Because I'm a masochist, I decided to take a look at how the question resolves for the topic: TX coming up with an electoral college.

How many (new) Senate districts are less than 50% urbanized by population? Fortunately there are only 31, which actually makes it easier than the small states (except that district lines are hard to come by overlayed with urban maps). Nevertheless:
    1: > 50% urban
    2: > 50% urban
    3: > 50% rural
    4: > 50% urban
    5: > 50% urban
    6: ~100% urban
    7: ~100% urban
    8: > 75% urban
    9: ~100% urban
    10: > 75% urban
    11: > 75% urban
    12: > 75% urban
    13: ~100% urban
    14: ~100% urban
    15: ~100% urban
    16: ~100% urban
    17: > 50% urban
    18: ~50-50
    19: > 50% urban
    20: > 50% urban
    21: ~50-50
    22: > 50% urban
    23: ~100% urban
    24: > 50% urban
    25: > 75% urban
    26: ~100% urban
    27: > 50% urban
    28: > 50% urban (shockingly)
    29: > 60% urban
30: Difficult to ascertain; I think it's about 50-50, could go either way depending on the population distribution in the multiple cities its borders cross
    31: > 50% urban

So that's 1-2 rural districts, 2-3 50-50, and 27-28 more urban than not through completely urban. So this plan wouldn't seem to benefit rural residents much. They're not needed for an electoral college any more than they are now. 2/31 is only 6.4% of the proposed electoral college districts, while (as of 2010) 15.3% of the Texas population lived in rural areas, which means they'd be even more underrepresented compared to cities. Right now, it'd take all of the 100%, 75%+, 60%+ and only any two 50%+ districts to secure an electoral college win for the executive offices.

No, this is done to benefit the Republican party, make it easier for them to gerrymander to the point where their guys can always win (or nearly so).

Now if you want that, just say so, but I'd have thought, from your railing about how the two parties are equally bad that you'd be against anything that would cement either one in executive office and reduce their accountability... but maybe not. You tell me.

Because your stated reasons for wanting to keep the Electoral College are outdated information. So why else do you want to keep it? Or will you change your mind with this new info?

As I said from the beginning you aren’t going to get anything out of @Uncle Albert because he has nothing but his feelings.

He feels scared of the darkies, queers and libs of the cities and he feels that the EC protects him from them.

You are bringing facts to a feelings fight and wondering why the opponent is too confused to respond.

Saying to whom? If your elections aren't close, you're no more than statistical noise to the candidates. No one will change their behavior to appease an inconsequential bloc.

There are other reasons to support the electoral college, some good, some dubious, some bad. Most can be summarized in a sentence or two. But you’re not even giving that single sentence now. I could make it multiple choice if you want, but that seems unnecessarily condescending, plus I might miss one.

Standard UA approach. He jumps in with a claim based on what he treats as some clearly evident truth.

When called out on it he gives a rationale that is either obviously faulty, or does a Google search and posts the first few links without actually reading the content, assuming that since it's so evidently true that they will back it up.

When people engage in good faith and actually read the links or arguments he has posted and point out why they don't lead to the conclusions he thinks they do, he starts saying that it's irrelevant and not worthy of discussion anyway.

Then at some later point he will repeat the same assertion in another place, and it all starts over.

I remember that quote from a North Florida troglodyte that said Trump wasn’t hurting the people he needs to be hurting. With DeSantis it’s ALL about hurting those people.

May have already been mentioned in the thread but if SCOTUS decides in favor of the batshit insane Independent Legislature Doctrine in the NC case, the '22 will be the last free nationwide election we'll ever vote in - and ditto for state elections anywhere the Republicans control the whole legislature.

America at that point is done. Blue states - or at least blue areas - will never co-operate with such a government.

I’d respond to this survey with Seymour Butts and send it in. But even if the results show that there is sufficient intellectual diversity in the Florida university system, that’s not the results the DeSantis crowd wants or tolerates. All they need is some anecdote about some adjunct professor somewhere commenting that he doesn’t support Trump and boom! All over Fox News within minutes.
