I think that's actually the right call. It's news, and hiding the consequences of what he did won't help.
Let him have it. It is an obvious sign of his worth. Now that everything is attached to your name in the public space you might want to choose what you subscribe to.
We found out about the Rodney King beating because of an amateur videographer who called KTLA to offer his video to them. Not sure if he was looking for notoriety or not, but he got it. The video was graphic and disturbing as fuck, but because we saw it, awareness of police brutality toward Black Americans was raised. (Not that the Rodney King case is any great example of justice being done, but if the amateur videographer hadn't gone to the TV station, the cops probably wouldn't even have gone on trial.)
Not a good example because without the videotape, nobody would ever have known what happened to King. Regardless of if this asshole live-streamed his shit or not, we would know about it.
Facebook Is Dodging Questions About Surveillance of Users Seeking Abortions Anybody want to look into the kind of data FB gathers about people buying guns? Probably some juicy bits of information to be had, regardless of if one wants to look for red flags, or intends to ban all guns in the US. Wonder if FB will be as reluctant to hand over that information as they are the stuff related to abortions.
Ok, but is that the algorithm, or just people reporting things? I think it is far more likely for right wingers to be SJWs who report things. That seems to be the identity of the right wing that they are the ones going to police the world. Being the butt goblins of social media the account used probably had one of the little dangle berries report them. Is there an actual AI hunting down bad posting, or is the tech community employing the world of tattletales to do their dirty work? I am being honest here because the solution relies upon the answer.
FB chooses to settle lawsuits, rather than answer questions about Cambridge Analytica. https://www.theguardian.com/technol...ends-in-11th-hour-settlement?CMP=share_btn_tw
So WA state has a 50 year old public disclosure law on the books when it comes to political advertising. Facebook decided to just ignore it. WA not only won but during discovery it came out that FB does in fact have the ability to follow the money and disclose who is paying for ads but just doesn’t want to. Facebook lost and not only has to pay damages but also all court fees and costs of prosecution. Good thread: https://twitter.com/elijsanders/status/1565772062672957440?s=21&t=4JfrtA4Vjm5IAyue5KX4UQ WA AG spiking the ball in response to a Trumpist: https://twitter.com/bobfergusonag/status/1565888056678580225?s=21&t=4JfrtA4Vjm5IAyue5KX4UQ You’re welcome rest of the Nation.
Meta banned ads for a movie about Nazi hunters. https://www.rollingstone.com/tv-movies/tv-movie-news/facebook-holocaust-film-race-policy-1234592908/ BTW, the movie is the last one that Roy Scheider made.
Interesting Twitter thread that argues the "Metaverse" is simply a long con to get people to pay for billionaires to figure out how to upload their brains to the web. https://twitter.com/EmilyGorcenski/status/1585517901406248960?s=20&t=tiU4SlOBe9O_O92GCPnuNw
I can do that now - just sign here Elon and then attach these electrodes. There will be a bit of a sizzling sensation...
