In response to TLS's post here's something I found interesting from an Australian researcher about what makes Internet trolls tick.
Results showed that gender, psychopathy, and sadism were all significant independent predictors of malevolent trolling. That is, if you are male, have high psychopathy, or high sadism, you are more likely to troll.

The most powerful predictor of trolling was sadism. The more someone enjoys hurting others, the more likely it is they will troll.

Self-esteem was not an independent predictor of trolling.

However, we found self-esteem interacts with sadism. So, if a person had high levels of sadism and high self-esteem, they were more likely to troll. This result was unexpected because low self-esteem has predicted other antisocial online behaviour, such as cyberbullying.

These results have important implications for how we manage and respond to trolling.

First, based on the results of psychopathy and sadism, we understand the internet troll as someone who is callous, lacks a sense of personal responsibility and enjoys causing others harm.

The significance of psychopathy in the results also indicates trolls have an empathy deficit, particularly when it comes to their ability to experience and internalise other people’s emotions.

On top of this, the interaction between high sadism and high self-esteem suggests trolls are not trolling because they have low self-worth. In fact, this is quite the opposite. The more someone enjoys hurting others and the better they feel about themselves, the more likely they are to troll.

The smug self-satisfaction of the Christian who considers himself morally superior seems like a good fit to me. Of course, the ultimate prescription is not to feed trolls. The "Ignore" function is simply awesome. :)

I wonder if a short attention span is another common denominator of trolls? :chris:

Ohio is forcing a 10 year old girl to carry a fetus to term after she was raped, so she crossed the border into Indiana.

    Source: https://news.yahoo.com/ohio-10-old-...mQuIhNiHaxU3Tx3s_Te0PfHhlyHLrWwwAYpEKPR6L-Qsl

    Firstly, fuck Ohio.
    Secondly, fuck the Supreme Court.
Thirdly, fuck every single person who was in favor of this decision. You are enablers of misery and death.

Finally, this is only the beginning. It's going to get worse, and they're going to want to do more than just Roe v. Wade. Right now, fundamentalist Christians are salivating at the prospect of getting everything they want, which means many good people are going to die.

We live in the Bad Place.

Edit: I just saw @Tuckerfan posted it, but my thoughts on this still stand.

Also worth noting that in less than a month Indiana would not have been an option either.

This decision can be used to say no US citizen has bodily autonomy...
Throw away those organ donor cards, they can just take the organs they need...
Or if you have a rare bloodtype force you to give blood as often as possible...
But MAGA/GQP supporters are happy enough to be organ chattel for the MAGA leadership...

Yup. Doesn't matter what rights one might think are sacrosanct under the US Constitution, the flimsy bullshit SCOTUS used to toss out Roe will absolutely be used to justify eliminating every other right granted by the Constitution. Doesn't matter if they're related to guns, privacy, or anything else, it'll happen soon. And all of the bootlickers here will be happy to comply because they think that by doing so they'll be able to "own the libs."

Whether they can force people to GIVE blood remains to be seen (but if your argument is "pro-life" why would you NOT force people to donate?) but prior to Roe, they could certainly force you to HAVE a transfusion, even trumping religious beliefs (though non-Christian so doubtless you don't give a shit):

    Why can't it?

If a woman can be forced to give up her bodily autonomy for 9 months, ending with either giving birth naturally or having invasive surgery and undergoing lifelong impacts on her body in order to bring a fetus to term, why shouldn't you be forced to give up your bone marrow for an ill 10 year old if it's determined you're a match?

What really happened, were these spoiled brat Bernie-kiddies swallowed the "Hillary is just as bad" shit.

Who grows up in a world in which every sexual encounter occurred with consent? These right wingers have gone beyond trolling to serious sociopathic behavior.

Lions are endangered. Christians are all over the place.

Time to get Roman on this shit.

Although I doubt the modern Christian is a healthy snack for Simba.

Some have noted that a government that is entitled to require you to carry a baby is likewise entitled to force you to abort it - and by extension, all these hypotheticals apply - once they own your bodily autonomy, in principle they can do anything they like with it.

I must dissent. Not about the Bernie stuff but the Dems, the old guard sort who have been "telling us" for decades, are STILL out there post-Trump beating the "we need a strong Republican Party" drum, from Biden right on down. "Bipartisan" is their highest of Holy Words. The ones willing to say "actually they're all lunatics" are relative latecomers and still don't drive the decision making of the party. I mean, sure, we can all laugh at the occasional Gohmert or shake a finger at a Steve King, but how many of them say publicly that, say, Jim Jordan or Mark Meadows are NeoFascist thugs? Certainly not any of the veterans.

Heard an interview with a doctor at a women’s health clinic in a state that’s banned abortion and she said that there’s so much confusion about the ban that they’re uncertain if it’s legal to tell someone who needs an abortion what state they can go to to get one.
