Ah cool, he actually looks like a cricket! :D
The Disney animators actually tried to draw him as a cricket, but Walt thought it looked creepy, and he made them soften it down until it looked cute.
Fuck you, Walt, the cricket version is cute.

Didja know that there was a 1996 version?

If you're wondering if it was any good, How Did This Get Made? covered it, so the answer is: It pretty much sucked bantha balls.

You'll hear Wallace Shawn's voice in the trailer (as Pepe the Cricket), but for some reason, he didn't do the movie. David "Bosley" Doyle voices him in the film.

It even spawned a video game.

Why does the thing sound like Peppa Pig or Ben and Holly's fairy hour?

Thank you Honest Trailers for watching these movies so I don't have to. I still haven't seen Del Torro's version. I'm sure it's probably good, but I'm just not that interested.
