This feels like a non-story given that IIRC the US Fed Gov doesn't recognise medical marijuana use as being any less illegal than recreational use.

And congress has said there’s no medical use for marijuana. So what? They’re still trying to take rights away for being “too dangerous”.

using a shitty source know for partisan hyperbole and thus losing your audience when there were plenty available that would not only get read, but occasional curious minds like mine will go the step further to verify the source reliablity if we don't recognize it.

that and I don't give a shit about your "right" or whatever partisanship you were trying to ascribe me earlier.

@shootER already debunked your assertion that a Fox affiliate is the same as Fox News. Try again. Anyway, this thread isn’t about the source. Comment on the OP or go away. Your choice.

Having personal experience with medical marijuana from florida you do not need that much from the smokables to get high. Also, there is no "prescribed" dosage as far as I am aware. It seems to be a lot of take as needed and don't drive while stoned. Having heard the "doctor's" phone calls about the "prescription" it is really unregulated.

Hitting half of one of the pre-rolled little joints was enough to be physically and mentally unable to hold a gun safely. I am also not a first time user with a lot of experience with multiple narcotics including marijuana.

Do you believe that it would be wrong for them to file opposition if Florida was making a "allow recreational heroin users to carry guns" law?

Marijuana should be legal, but while they don't recognise it as being so this is exactly the same.

If you're worked up about this you're REALLY going to be outraged when you learn about the countless lives ruined by by sent to prison for drug use.

again, you're putting words in my mouth

I haven't made that differentiation at all.

It's also a hair that the audience isn't going to split for you.

This is why nobody believes you have a post secondary education.

The only combination that should be illegal is handling firearms under the influence of something intoxicating, and that includes alcohol for damn sure. Otherwise, the two are unrelated and you should be free to defile yourself at will and own weapons, provided the two never mix.

This is kind of why I've been a stoner rather than a drinker all these years-except it was a motorcycle rather than guns.

If I knocked back a bunch of beers, I'd be "fine... gonna drive home now.".

Burn a bunch of weed all afternoon? Yeah, I ain't going any where.

Pound for pound, weed isn't going to compromise someone's decision making, let alone impair their cognitive function to near the same level. Especially in the context of medicinal cannabis where the CBD (non intoxicating) effects are dominant.

So as to the subject, yeah, singling out medicinal users (no matter their motive for choosing the cannabis as treatment-pretty sure that's a protected privacy) strikes me as a second set of rules... it is ironic though, that they'd continue to ban weed but not guns while claiming it's about public safety.

Fried the Democrat running for governor is right over the DOJ currently run by Democrats morally and medically. But as pointed out, medical marijuana is not considered a legal substance by the federal government, this administration simply chooses not to prosecute for it. So there is legal justification.

The best answer would be for Biden and company to get off their ass and finally get rid of marijuana as a schedule 1 drug, which by definition means it has no legitimate medical use. That's clearly wrong. It would be better served as a schedule III drug, with some limitations but approved for medical use. If that trial went well it could be descheduled entirely. You know, like white people's drug of choice, alcohol, which by all medical definitions is far more dangerous, but makes for a great night out.
