I did read your statement, and it means either one of two things:

1. Other former POTUS are doing the same thing
2. Other former POTUS aren't doing the same thing.

Your assertion that this is clearly political seems reliant on 1, because if it's 2 then no such thing is clear.

Other former Presidents take documents when they leave for various reasons. Nearly everything the President touches while he/she is in the White House is considered part of the national archives. Judge Napolitano explained put it like this. For example if Trump played tic tac toe on a napkin with the late Prime Minister Abe, that can be considered part of the national archives. Obviously something like nobody would care if he wanted to take that as a keepsake.

All Presidents do this and there's often a back and forth between the President and the national archives over what is classified, what is a document they can keep and what they can keep. Where Trump fucked up is that he held on to some documents for too long. What we don't know is what those documents are. If they are in fact classified sensitive documents then the FBI would be justified in wanting them back. If it's a keepsake, then the FBI has gone way too far.

The biggest question is was this raid necessary because of it being such a high profile case and because it is highly unusual. Whether you like it or not, Trump is a former President and I fear this could set a bad precedent going forward.

Short answer, yes, former Presidents probably do have some keepsakes in their home that they took from the White House and I wouldn't be surprised if they also took one small thing they probably aren't supposed to have that most people probably wouldn't care about, but could be technically be charged for if the Feds really wanted to be dicks.

Judge is giving Trumps lawyers an opportunity to give any reasons they want to oppose releasing the warrant.
