How the fuck is it a bad precedent to investigate and act on crime at the top of level of government?

That's exactly the type of thing that should be investigated and acted on. If the president can do whatever the fuck he wants and not be investigated for it, then what are we even doing here?

How so? They could have timed it much closer to the midterm elections or Trump announcing his 2024 candidacy if the plan was to undermine Trump or the Republicans politically.

Trump was about to announce his 2024 candidacy. At least those were the rumors right before this happened.

Everything I'd heard suggested was that Trump was avoiding announcing anything until after the midterm elections were over, so that if the Republicans didn't do as well as expected it couldn't be blamed on him, and also in the hopes that he'd be under less scrutiny if they did take back that house and/or senate.

How does it sound that way? Could I also possess classified information in my house?
