I would say Forbin dreamed it, but something like that would be far too sane for his psychedelic, twisted voyages! Maybe if it involved a racoon using an etch-a-sketch to depict a nude Bea Arthur riding a pogo stick up Niagara Falls it would spice up the story!
Yup. Happened when he was assigned to test rebuilt P-47s at either Dover NJ or Richmond VA, before he went overseas. Smoke in the cockpit, so he aimed it out to sea, locked the autopilot, and climbed out on the wing to jump clear of the tail. Noticed the smoke had stopped, so he got back in and landed it. Turned out to be smoldering insulation on a hot wire behind the panel.
"Noticed the smoke had stopped, so he got back in and landed it. Turned out to be smoldering insulation on a hot wire behind the panel." or so the Germans would have us believe......
ooh, look at mister "big money" Anc! He's too good to buy "previously owned/reconditioned" condoms! I'm not even going to ask about your underwear or toothbrushes.
So I cross posted this on my sex club’s FB group and someone shared this: https://bgr.com/2020/09/25/used-condom-repackaging-operation-busted/ So many questions! I mean I get the why (greed) but the how... First off, where is the supply coming from?!?!? Secondly, is there a market for used condoms? #AskingForAFriend
My guess would be somewhere near Galveston, which is where the repairs are taking place. It's not only a huge tourist destination on its own, but there's a cruise ship terminal there as well. One of the reasons I've never visited the ship is that its previous location wasn't really close to anything except the San Jacinto battlefield and monument. There's a naval museum nearby with a destroyer escort (USS Stewart) and a submarine (USS Cavalla) installed on land but it, too, isn't all that easy to access compared to a berth closer to the main island. Plus, the waters there would be more exposed to the gulf.
There’s a cruise ship terminal in Galveston? Not denying it, just amazed. I’ve spent quite a lot of time there and never noticed a cruise ship terminal. … Unless it’s near the hospital. That would explain why I didn’t notice. I’m off to google maps.
Ok. Yea. The only reason for me being that far east on that island was because my older son was at UTMB for nearly a month when he was a year old.
I've always wanted to see the Cavalla and Stewart. Both were somewhat recently given a good once over, they look much better than they used to, especially Stewart.
It's bullshit there's no naval museum in the Seattle area, besides at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. You can get there from Seattle by hours of driving, or an hour ferry ride. There was a Foxtrot class Submarine museum on the waterfront for a couple of years, in the early 2000's, but it went tits up. Ended up going to San Diego to a museum there, but they let it rot and it was scrapped in Mexico in 2022.
Between Seattle and Tacoma, we built half of the destroyers for the USN, among numerous other types of ships.
This guy was hanging out all night near the place where I helped a crew with an election night live shot.
