Erik Prince is a traitor too?
Funny how the biggest ones for being bloodthirsty in the name of nationalism commit the biggest treasons.
    G. Gordon Liddy springs to mind.

Oh, I'm pretty sure there will be bloodshed. Hell, there is already. The question is to what degree.

I think a big advantage Canada has is you don't have completely evil oligarchs in charge of the society who use white supremacy as a wedge to inspire heavily armed morons to insurrection.

Nor an overwhelming Christian ethos that is completely morally bankrupt and anti-intellectual.

We will get through this, but again, the question is in what form. People tend to not realize that the end game in Reconstruction was the violent overthrow of fusionist governments in the South - and that was largely successful and successfully hidden from general education for nearly a hundred years.

Our history is rife with violence. We are very good at it, perhaps the best thing we do. Are we ready to finally get past that and put in a better society?

I don't see that happening in the next decade or two, probably not in my lifetime. I do think Gen Z and their kids might have that chance.

As to the current bullshit, the Trump appointed judge and federalist society member gave Trump what he wanted on his request for the special master, going farther saying that looking at criminal indictment goes substantially to harming the President's reputation. This is pretty unprecedented, as Executive Privilege has never been successfully asserted by a former president - against the current president's administration.

I could see getting a special master to oversee any potential client-attorney issues, but she went WAY past that.

She also says the ODNI assessment of the potential impact of the mishandling of classified can continue.

The FBI just can't be involved - even though they are a critical component of intelligence and homeland security.

This also implies that the FBI is not acting impartially.

This is about the best Trump could have hoped for.

She was ratified AFTER Trump lost the Presidency.

Agree on the oversight of the solicitor-client privilege stuff (and that's pretty normal in any criminal investigation), but everything else was some straight-up bullshit.

Y'all been infected by our disease, but are much better situation to treat it before it becomes fatal. A healthy country doesn't have their most populous province RE-elect a Ford (hell elect him in the first place) and from what I see from jays fans I follow on Twitter, there's not a ton of daylight between Alberta (relative to the national government) and, say, Idaho or Montana relative to our FedGov.

    Squash it while you can.

as for the oft repeated discussion of civil war, I'd suggest that if/when it comes what it will look like is a whole LOT of OKC type actions, Bundys everywhere out west and essentially guerilla terrorism everywhere. Nothing we haven't seen before, but something related a couple of times a month and something relatively big 5-7 times a year

someone observed on Twitter that while we have no idea who this relates to - imagine if the document is about Israel and how much the Saudis would slide over to the Trump family to get it...and what such a betrayal of Israel would do inside the GOP (and even more so since Kushner's family is TIGHT with Bibi).

I mean...it's probably not (I can imagine Modi being only too happy to find out what we know about Pakistan for example) but just imagine...

Looking forward to her trying to appoint someone like Jeff Sessions or whatever as the SM.

Really isn't ANYONE who's both legally qualified AND holds the highest security clearance ...AND can't be accused of party bias who could be chosen - which would just make it take longer which is the goal.

I’ve also seen folks talking about Israel/Saudi but that doesn’t make sense. They have been informal allies for 15 years now and formal ones for a couple.

Iran (and to a lesser extent Qatar) are their biggest enemies, not each other.

Which if we think it is something to sell the Saudis it would our assessment of Iran IMO (which would REALLY piss the Israelis off as it would primarily come from their assets - they may be warming up to the Saudis but not ‘give up our spies’ close).

Staying in that region the other juicy option could be details on the Saudi nuclear program. Israel would love to get their hands on that. Again, they are getting closer to the Saudis but still want to be the only nuclear power in the region.

Thanks to McConnell blocking all the niggers’ judicial appointees the 11th is 6-5 appointed by one president… Trump.

    We’ll see what happens.

God, sometimes I wish my appellate team would work that fast. But no! First we wait the 30 days and on day 30 file the notice of appeal. Then we wait for the 9th to set briefing schedules and then we follow that until we get too close and then we get an automatic extension of time. Next thing you know I've been working on this case for nine years...

I wonder what treasonous acts Hilary carried out in the "equally bad" 2016b timeline. :lanz:

So Trump brought an idiotic RICO suit against Hillary, the DNC, Peter Strock and more and apparently tried his damndest to shot it to...Judge Cannon.

    And failed.

The judge who did draw it went into detail but the gist is "Get this laughable lame ass shit out of my courtroom."

    WTF?

The halfway-innocent scenarios are getting harder and harder to come by.

(Also, some of the recent events bolster the "there's information he doesn't want anyone to see" theory, since if it was just information he wanted to HAVE for whatever reason, he could have copied it and given the files back.)

Apparently the judge also reserved the right to hold a sanctions hearing for even bringing the suit. Soon Trump will have no lawyers capable of representing him.

A friend of mine who retired from the CIA made an interesting point yesterday. A president normally never even sees, let alone has possession of this kind of material, which raises all kinds of questions. Just one small piece of a very weird puzzle.
