I hear that the taxpayers pay everything for the royals. I am figuring royal means welfare, and that means the world's biggest welfare queen was a white supremacist and is dead.

They aren't entirely taxpayer-funded. The Sovereign Grant (which runs to ~40-50 million) comes out of the government purse. They also have private investments and hereditary assets. The Crown Estate is a huge property portfolio and supports them through revenue on that as well.

The general view is that the taxpayer burden is offset by the cash they bring in through tourism, but the Queen was a HUGE part of that. I can't seen hordes of Americans or Japanese rocking up to watch Charles troop the colour, if he can even be arsed to do so.

Just like the U.S., coins are minted every year in Canada. So they'll just change the obverse to King Charles III. Not really a big deal. Most countries change their coin designs annually anyway.

As for paper currency, we actually use polymer notes that are much more durable than the cotton paper you Yanks use. There is no legal reason to change the bills until they're worn out, so it may be a few years before we start seeing banknotes with King Chuck.

Plenty of generic royal touristy stuff that doesn’t require the monarch be present. Changing of the guard, taking selfies with the guards with the tall hats, Crown Jewels, etc. i think your royalty tourism won’t be affected much. Might even improve for a while with the novelty of a king.

Actually, the US currency is made from a material that is so highly controlled only 2 places are able to make it. It’s easier to “wash” the ink off one dollar bills and make them into 100 dollar bills than to recreate the paper.
