I did watch Reacher. But, that bit wasn’t news. At least, not to me. I have a part time job in which I have to handle money. Lots of money. In all US currencies. And the boss and everyone else in that job has worked in banks and other money counting and accounting type positions. They discuss it quite a bit. I only half listen which is why I couldn’t tell you exactly what the specs are. Either way, just because I watch tv doesn’t mean you aren’t wrong.

As for your second part, I really could not care less about Canadian currency. So, if that’s where you want to “be a man” and show me how smart you are, well, go ahead now.

    Currency Facts
    • Crane and Co., a Massachusetts-based company, has been providing the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing with paper for U.S. currency since 1879.

    • Federal Reserve notes are a blend of 25 percent linen and 75 percent cotton. Currency paper has tiny red and blue synthetic fibers of various lengths evenly distributed throughout the paper.

    • It would take 4,000 double folds, forwards and backwards, to tear a banknote. (the polymer bills don't tear-which was the point. they do however break in -30C temps)

    • No matter the denomination, a banknote weighs approximately 1 gram. Because there are 454 grams in one pound, this means there are 454 notes in one pound of currency.

    • Want to measure your notes in a different way? A stack of currency one mile high would contain more than 14.5 million banknotes.

    • It is estimated that between one-half to two-thirds of the value of all U.S. currency in circulation is outside of the U.S.

    • In 1934, the $100,000 Gold Certificate became the highest denomination ever issued. It was never intended for public use. Instead, it was meant solely for official transactions between Federal Reserve Banks.

so, yes... it's a highly controlled/sole supplier material, but it's still a cotton based paper (that's not as durable as polymer yadda yadda). According to wiki, they provide currency stock for a couple of countries

also, you may wanna lay off the not so passive accusations of mansplaining when you've just finished describing how you don't actually know (and are indeed, mistaken) and dismiss the new information. It cheapens the definition in actual instances of chauvinistic condescension.

Leave it to a man to get defensive and bring up “mansplaining” when it wasn’t even the issue. I was just stating that I didn’t think - for further emphasis - THINK - he was correct about the lack of resiliency in US currency. Your post is much more informative than WAB’s.

But .., whatever. You want to act like an ass, I’ll treat you like an ass - the same as I do WAB.

and here you are, mansplaining like a champ. Nice gaslight/dismissal in assigning an emotional motivation to my daring criticize something you brought into the discussion.

    Full metal Karening

    Well done

UA must be very proud. (Or is this some sort of weird role play that I stumbled into?)

Yeah, and there's lots of powerful and wealthy people who don't want the discussion to be had because it raises questions about the legitimacy of all intergenerational wealth.

If you say that the royal family should have their land and assets seized by the state because of how they were originally acquired, then why not the same of any inherited lands or wealth?

Also if I "could not care less" about a subject I simply wouldn't have engaged in a discussion about it.

I just said that I didn’t THINK his statement was accurate. Not about Canadian money at all. Everything after that has just been me defending myself against attacks.

But, if that constitutes “engaging in discussion” about something that hasn’t even been brought up since, I guess I’m guilty.

I don’t actually know what you are saying.

It has been a long week and I am not as perceptive as I usually am.

But I will say that that I am more than willing to be on, under, beside Elliot Page in any which way they would deign to present their genitals to me.

And I would eat them the fuck out. Everywhere. My tongue would know no boundaries.

That'd be a great movie title, but it would only be 5 minutes long, and then a Latina would slap the Karen, and credits would roll.

Just out of curiosity, how are you able to say things like this without people screaming "Trans men are not an alternative to women!" at you? Because that's what happens to me and I don't like it.

Indeed. Apparently multiple countries in the Commonwealth are seriously discussing getting off that train, seeing this as a natural hinge point, and I think they're right.

The big discussion I keep seeing people having is basically about how much responsibility she should be held to for Colonial bullshit since WW2 (IMO, not all that much - seems a fine individual and good for the country but I expect the political folks were responsible for the greed driven foreign affairs) but I'm prepared to give a nod of respect to QEII

I see no reason to extend such respect to Charlie. And either of them, or anyone else, is never ever going to motivate me to refer to any human being as "majesty" and/or 'highness"

    the change isn't in me.
you've become thin skinned and spiteful, lashing out at any critique or criticism.

sound like anyone you know IRL?

Go back over these disagreements that have seemingly upset you... have I belittled or insulted you once (other than the shitty influence that seems to have tainted you and the way you interact around here)? No. I point out the disingenuousness in your statements, like how you've recently discovered empty accusations of misogyny as a way to shut down dissent.

What the fuck are your talking about? Do you even read your own posts? I do … I did read yours. And I look at who likes and agrees with posts that insult me. So, if I took offense to you “liking” and “agreeing” with Tererun’s posts insulting me - me specifically, and I call you out on it, that doesn’t make me thin skinned. It makes me aware of how two faced people can be even on social media. Here’s a clue. I can see your posts. I can see when you like a post that insults me. So take your manufactured outrage and shove it up your ass.

There really should be a general warning about liking my posts and how it will effect other people around here. But I am not a master troll or anything. People just react to me that way. Especially strong women who date abusive boyfriend's like cockgobbles in brokedick jeep.

hadn't noticed... normally I "like" a Tererun post because of the point she's making, not the bluster involved. Besides, this instance has nothing to do with Tererun, but rather WAB.

What did I do to cause your umbrage? pointed out that you were wrong and in your own post (which you claim to have read) stated that you were talking out of your ass AND I provided a link to an accurate source.

and let's face it, I'm one of about three people on this board who doesn't call you stupid or use you as a barometer for others' stupidity. You're definitely not helping dispel the perception of "thin skinned" here.

see, I'm laughing at this one because of the situational aspect. Not because it's jenee.

    in order, the self reference/deprecation
then the pokes at UA because I truly do think he's a shitty excuse for a human
jenee's role isn't really amusing at all though... I feel kinda bad for her.

yup... a lot of discussion here.

Canada in my lifetime has gone from a mostly white nation with strong anglo heritage to a mosaic of every place the british empire once touched. We don't have that strong of a tie to a British, or even European, heritage any more-and good riddance.

We'll get a couple years of Chuck on the throne, but I suspect that Will is the end of the line as the English monarchy becomes as relevant as the Danish one.
