    That’s a really good point.

Even a normal president would likely only want/need/get classified briefings on what is going on. They would have no use for the actual source material.

And Trump is far from normal. Dude couldn’t even sit through a PDB. No way is he doing homework.

Or more likely, it's a mix of "I want this for whatever reason" (in the case of things like the information about another country's nuclear program, which presumably exists in more than one place) and "I don't want anyone to see this" (in the case of the stuff he hauled off to Bedminster, which is possibly where the post-election gap in news clippings comes into play).

At least one person with security clearance who works for the US government has claimed that if they'd absconded with the kind of classified material that Trump did, they would have been "disappeared." :chris:

I'm just thinking about the process of handling this stuff. I could see where a President on VERY rare occasions might need/want to see something from that level, but I have to think it would be a very involved process that would create it's own paper trail and chain of custody. I would guess someone would make the request to the proper agency. The agency would have to "consider" it, then if granted, it would have to be signed for, hard copy only, hand carried to the President, then after he reviewed it in the presence of the courier, it would be handed back to the courier after the President reviewed it in the presence of the courier. Then receipt would be signed and return acknowledged by the courier, who would have to account for the return to the proper agency with receipt acknowledged. I'm sure I'm missing some details, but if I"m anywhere near right and you contrast that procedure with what seems to have happened here: i.e. someone just back up a couple of pick 'em up trucks and loaded them up for the open road trip to that glorified whorehouse.... :sroll:

His filings before Cannon have amounted to "all of it is mine, laws don't apply to me, I can take anything I want, I was wronged when they took it from me"

It would be an error to assume even if he draws a judges he appointed at the 11th that they will be able to stomach pretending that's a valid argument.

Are those Secret Service agents? I would think that Secret Service agents would actually have regulations forbidding them from carrying things, on the grounds that their hands have to be free at all times.

it could have been incorrect but the first time I saw those picture the one who posted it referred to them as Secret Service agents. Obviously "I saw it on the internet" isn't much of a foundation.

Might be a medical urgency rather than a legal one, but Trump was spotted deplaning in DC while still wearing golf clothes and cleats.

For some reason it reminds me of the opening scene of "Analyze This" where all the fat mobsters have to make a break for it when the feds bust their sit down. :chris:

Lindsey looks shook, and the women behind him don’t seem to want to be there.

Lindsey is introducing an abortion restriction bill today - it's clearly DOA and obviously aimed at blue states (since it proposes restrictions that are less severe than red states have already adopted). Speculation is he might be trying to keep the news cycle off this meetup with Trump.

We're gonna need a master list in rough order of which crime is likely to be the first one to get him (take the low hanging fruit first then keep trying him until he's dead (because it will take that long).

Guessing the fundraising fraud is the biggest slam dunk in terms of magnitude and ease of proof
    Then the doc theft
    Then the GA case
    Then the Cohen case obstruction
    Then the Berman book revelations
The Death of Trump Org case in NY
Seditious Conspiracy (maybe hardest to prosecute despite evidence, so completely fuck him up on the other stuff first then try the unprecedented case)

Feels like there are more that are slipping my mind

    Hannity’s got you covered.

Sean Hannity is keeping a list of Trump probes. Here’s what’s on it.

Trump's lawyers submitted to Special Master Dearie that they are withholding their answer to which documents Trump declassified, if any, as that may be a potential roadmap against them in a criminal indictment.

Dearie stated they had the right to make that case, but if so in lieu of any information from Trump and the prima facie evidence the government supplied (all the 'top secret' and above markings on the docs) that the documents are considered classified for these purposes and to him, that is the end of the matter.

He specifically told Trusty, Trump's lawyer, 'you can't have your cake and eat it too.'

This seems to make any futher appeals unnecessary. Indeed, Dearie was a former FISA court judge, he knows that he himself can't look at the docs without need to know, and told Trusty that Trump's defense team doesn't have a need to know.

What's more, a transcript of the review showed that Trump's team doesn't even have a list or index of what documents are under discussion, and implied that the former President himself does not know what files were there.

That itself is a damning confession considering the law that Trump himself signed makes misstorage of classified documents a felony.

Many are now expecting an indictment shortly after midterms.

I suspect that one of the reasons Trump's not being forthcoming about what documents were there is because he wants to make sure that he doesn't tell them about any documents that they might not know about.

Agreed, but I think part of that is he took so much shit and has no idea where it all is that it was less damaging to say he doesn't have an index.

Remember all the folders with TS and above marking that they found empty? Uggh.

Either way he's committed multiple felonies.
