It's more than that. He's been presented with the data countless times, and he has no trouble with the concept of governments and industries tipping the scale in favour of certain outcomes, or with the idea that a particular policy might make it harder for specific groups to advance in society so long as it's a group he identifies with. He's got no problem seeing racism when the victim is white, or sexism when the victim is male.

Racism doesn't need to come from a place of pure hate to count as racism. It can come from a place of fear and contempt like oldfella, or from a place of insecurity and fragility like it does with FF.
