The entire purpose was to provide a safe space for the more touchy members of Gun Forge.

But they seem to have removed themselves since then.

We’ve had a dozen posts in half a dozen threads in the last six months.

Does this forum still have a purpose?

I don’t think it needs a separate forum any longer.

I'd stab it in the pee-pee hole with a bayonet, and make its mother watch, so folding it anywhere is a kindness.

I vote to keep it and just lock it, because I like the idea that some of those people most obsessed with guns have provided the authorities with a handy record of many of their purchases here in an easy to access format. :bergman:

On the one hand, I'd say if you were stupid enough to put it out there, then sure - especially when it comes to guns because their sole purpose is to injure/kill someone.

OTOH, it's a private message board and I doubt they thought their guns would ever be involved in a crime.

If it just comes down to suddenly guns are illegal, do we really want to be the kind of place/board/entity that would just give up private information? Kinda sets a bad precedent.

Well, we were owned by an actual cop for several years, so any presumption of immunity from self tattling-at least by americans, us furner's kilometerage may vary-is a special level of naivete.

Pretty sure it wouldn't be in the ownership's hands other than as a civic obligation, and that subpoenas would be directed to the licenser/host anyway.

We wouldn't need to hand over any private information, this is a public subforum, anything posted in here is already visible to anyone (check in an incog window where you aren't logged in) and indexed by search engines.

IIRC, Camp Wordforge wasn't intended to be a "gun forum" anyway. It was supposed to be for outdoorsy type stuff. At this point it probably could merge with the Green Room.

Don't mix this shitpile in with another forum. Either archive it or just close the forum with the epitaph "Here lies SecondAmendmantdias, King of Kings; Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!"

There is, without a doubt, at least one or two who would gleefully pull a chickenshit move like ratting on someone for that.

Your reasons for fucking up are irrelevant. Fuck up on someone else's patch of nowhere. Also, self-defense is not murder.

always the other guy starting it or being a threat, huh?

christ, but you must be scared of everything to feel the need to be able to murder it just for being annoying/broken.

Yes. That's how self-defense works. Good to see you finally comprehending that.

Nope. That's the little strawman gaslight you people trot out when you've got nothing. Preparedness is not fear. A spare tire doesn’t mean I'm terrified of flats. An extra jacket doesn’t mean I'm terrified of the cold. Bettet to have them and not need them.

funny, self defense seems to be your strawman with a gas lantern... I suppose it saves you the challenge of anything resembling empathy?

preparedness is having more than a single lethal option.

Seriously... in case you get a flat tire, you can fix it. If the weather changes, you're covered. If someone who's suffered a TBI approaches you, you're ready to shoot them.

One of these things is clearly not like the other.

You forfeit anyone else's empathy when you set out to victimize them.

Obviously. And since you don't know about my "options," you choose to make assumptions. Betrays more about you than it does of me.

I don't know what the fuck a "TBI" is, but this fantasy of me being "ready to shoot" someone for merely approaching is 100% your own invention.

Yeah, your deluded fiction about every gun owner living out his Punisher fantasy, versus my mundane reality of simply owning tools for a variety of needs.

I see. Traumatic Brain Injury. Doesn't really change anything. Violence is the last resort, but the bottom line is whether or not they are a credible threat, and if you are, it doesn't matter why.

anyone walking around with a gun on him is a credible threat to make a difficult moment a major incident.

some guy twitching and talking to himself loudly, not so much.

that you even perceive them as a credible threat compared to the average person underlines the fear and (from?) ignorance.

    strawman

2 the subject matter is specifically firearms and lethal force. why do you always do this?

3 yeah, you're ignorant of a lot of things. you're the one who's claimed the right to use lethal force in this discussion

4 just you, sweetheart. just you. and what "variety of needs" do you have for carrying a gun?

That rests on a huge pile of assumptions carefully chosen to service your own self-righteous smugness.

You're the only one suggesting that scenario.

I don't view "some guy twitching and talking to himself" as a threat based on those behaviors alone. I see him as a threat when he initiates physical violence, just as I would anyone else, and my response would be reserved and proportionate whether your bias permits you to concede the possibility or not. Anything beyond that is just you trying to stack the example and rule out any valid self-defense scenario where using force, up to and including a firearm, would be justified. I don't expect it to happen. I also don't expect to maim myself, but I still have a first aid kit. Quit trying to portray an oblivious lack of preparedness as a virtue.

And no, I'm not suggesting anything must be a virtue in this context, so fuck off with the "I know you are but what am I :dendroica: " schtick.

So you don't rest on the assumption that every gun owner is a wannabe vigilante, just itching to shoot someone? Good to know. :brood:

A person considering lethal force an option does NOT commit them to a position where it is the only option.

That doesn't mean you can just make up bullshit examples and attribute them to me. That is a dishonest bullshitter tactic employed by someone who is not able to contend with anything outside his chosen perspective.

You assume I do carry one, just like you choose to assume everything else, because confining yourself to reality would undermine your vacuous facade of moral superiority.

you're the one who claims there's a "right" to carry a gun around in public

I'm trying to ascertain why you feel you need for this right based on your history of sanctimonious rants.
