Hey everybody, guess what time it is? That's right, it's time to dust off your Magic Eight Balls (no, not that kind of eight-ball, @Tererun) and guess the outcome of the 2022 midterms! Will @Rimjob Bob's reign as Master Prognosticator last longer than Madison Cawthorn's congressional career? Will @Order2Chaos regain the crown, or at least add to his title as most-medaled Wordforge Pundit? To enter, just answer each of the following questions: How many seats will each party control in the Senate? How many seats will each party control in the House? Tiebreaker: What percentage of the first-round vote will Sarah Palin receive in Alaska? The rules: You must make your predictions by 7 a.m. Eastern Time on Tuesday, November 8, which is not technically the earliest poll-opening time in the country, but it's what I've been doing for 10 years now, so fuck it. You may change your prediction at any time up until then, but please make a new post to make sure I see it. To adjust for the difference in size between the House and Senate, a multiplier of 4.35 will be applied to the Senate. Any independents will count toward the total of the party with which they caucus. If needed, the tiebreaker will be decided on a "closest without going over" basis. Past winners: 2020 1) @Rimjob Bob 2) @Demiurge 3) @Bailey 2018 @Order2Chaos @Bailey @TheBurgerKing 2016 @Dayton3 @Dinner @Order2Chaos 2014 @Dinner @Cobalt @Order2Chaos 2012 @Dinner @K. @Fisherman's Worf 2012 (Iowa caucuses) @Cobalt @Nova @Phoenix 2010 @Caedus @Demiurge @Order2Chaos Start predicting, motherfuckers!
What's the tiebreaker based on? Final non-exhausted ballot percentages, first place vote percentages, something else?
Fuck, I shoulda chosen something simpler. Let's say first-round first-place percentages. I'll edit that in.
But... think of the white men! Who will preserve them in the face of losing a whole 0.01% of their complete domination over society? WHOOOOOO?????!!!!!
Since @Bickendan thinks I don’t know what words mean: This is called a straw man. This is not an argument I have made.
So who are "we all" in your definition? If it can't be meaningfully extrapolated to include white men, it hardly seems like it's representative. Though I'm heartened to see you championing women and minorities for a change.
Can you list the number of House seats won by each party rather than a margin? (Since +9R can be interpreted as Republicans having 9 more than Democrats, Republicans picking up 9 seats, etc., and currently vacant seats increase the ambiguity.)
House and senate 100% Republican. Because any day now, Trump is going to take back the White House and declare the Democratic Party a terrorist organization, so only Republicans will be able to run. Last place here I come!
Okay, I fat fingered the House number...should be 220 R 215 D... but maybe I'll just delete and edit afterwards...
This post is fine for changing it. I'll read through the whole thread for updates before the contest closes.
