Kinda wish they were using Kevin McKidd and Ray Stevenson as Kallus and Zeb, even if they've both been other characters in the SW-U. They might be too old for Andor, but could work in the Mando/Ashoka era.

I liked it quite a bit. But then, I like the smaller stories in Star Wars - not everything has to be whether a Skywalker has gone insane recently. :D

The gritty corporate sector world, the flashes of his back story on the failed mining colony, the search for his sister that started the whole mess, Stellan Skarsgard was a lot of fun.

I really appreciated the nod to the Han Solo EU books in the corporate sector. Those corporate guys could absolutely be ESPOs. And that broken down droid is very memorable, hope we see more of little EMO.

I'm definitely interested for the rest of its run.

The building where the shootout happens and things just randomly fall. WTF? I mean, really?

You must have missed the line in which he said rule number 3 (?) build your escape on the way in.

Have you ever seen so much as a guard rail in star wars?

Hanging massive engine blocks from the ceiling isn't that shocking as it's long established there is no OSHA in the Empire, so a Free Trade sector in the Empire would have even fewer safety regs like some sort of maquiladora...

In a time even longer ago, ancient Force users mind-tricked everyone into shoddy stacking practices so they had shit to toss at each other during lightsaber duels.

I like the slow setup, but let’s see some spy action. I assume that’s coming next week.

Jesus. About ten minutes in to episode 4 and I could tell nothing would happen. And later the episode just ends. Just randomly ends.

It was great to see Mon Mothma, and if that's her husband, he's seriously a dweeb. He reminds me of the super wealthy socialites who didn't even see the boot heel coming down hard, he was too busy enjoying the excesses of his privileged life. He's like the Paris Hilton of privileged assholes. I kind of want to see a dinner scene, and I want to see Mon Mothma eviscerate everyone there, because they're all his buddies, and you just know they're awful people.

Wasn't it season 3 of Rebels before Mon Mothma left the senate and openly announced her involvement with the rebel alliance? So, I don't see her pissing off people at this dinner party. Maybe if the series continues for 5 years, we will eventually see it.

What I want to see is if and how Bail Organa interacts Luthen Rael and Mon Mothma. Or if only Mon Mothma interacts with Luthen. I'd like to see how the "puppet masters" choose their cells and if any ever interact prior to 3BBY. As well as who all the puppet masters are besides Bail and Mon

It's now my favorite series. But, if the first 4 episodes of Andor are any indication, Andor may replace it.

True, Andor is really good. I get frustrated because some things are happening and I don't know what they are, and there are people introduced and I don't know who they are because while I really like Star Wars, outside of the movies and the live action shows, I never dove down the rabbit hole where the most nitpickiest of lore exists (outside of the Timothy Zahn novels back in the 1990s). I save that level of nerdery for Star Trek, but it's still irksome when they do a BIG FACE REVEAL and I'm like... I don't know who that is.

Still, Andor has been really good so far, and I'm hoping the pieces get tied together. I've loved the Mandalorian so far, I loved the Kenobi series, I want to love this, too, and it's really good. Short of shotgunning the Rebels series, is there any way I can get up to speed quickly so I at least know what's going on?

The only thing other than the movies and live action series I've seen is the two animated series of Clone Wars and Rebels. I've read a couple books (including the Zhan series), but none of the comics or any other stuff. But, when I do hear about some bit of nerddom, that interests me, I google it. I believe this is the first series with Luthen Rael, but what facinates me about him is that he seems to be on par with Bail Organa and perhaps Ashoka in recruiting people in the galaxy to join the alliance.

Wow, a lot happened that I missed.

Thank you! I'll try to get around to seeing Rebels at some point. I kind of discounted it because it was an animated show and assumed it would be mostly for kids. Now I definitely need to watch it. Sounds like the kind of stuff I'd really enjoy.

That show is just ridiculously good. It's like they took the best parts of a Clint Eastwood western and added Star Wars to it.

the only character so far in Andor that has a character originating or expanding their story is Mon Mothma. I believe Luther was in one of the games I never played.

In Mandalorian, Bo Karan’s sister was the leader of Mandalore who wanted to lead the people to a more peaceful future (Mandalorian have been warriors and that is their legacy). Many Mandalorian did not want to give up the warrior lifestyle and openly rebelled against .. Satine(?) Bo Katan’s sister the leader. Bo Kanan was one of those and joined The Watch (one of the rogue groups). Long story short, Bo Karan saw the light and changed her ways but not until after the end of the Clone Wars

Side note, Darth Maul did not die when Obi Wan cut him down in the Phantom Menace. He eventually came to rule Mandalore. But, lost that his position there via Ashoka (named and described above by Matt) almost simultaneously as Order 66 was going down. Anyway, he came to power because of the Dark Saber - it’s like a light saber melded with beskar.

Actually, I don’t think there is a short way to tell that story.

Then in Rebels, Sabine (You’ll meet her in the Ashoka series) finds the Dark Saber and gives it to Bo Karan. Both Moff Gideon and the Mandalorian armorer tell why and how Bo Karan lost it and ended up being the downfall of Mandalore.

As for Andor, you might meet or hear about Hera Syndula, Agent Kallus, or possibly Captain Rex. Hera is a pilot, her father fought against the Republic, then the empire. Agent Kallus worked for the empire, but turned to the rebellion, Captain Rex is a clone who fought alongside Anikan during the Clone Wars.

Honestly, it’s not necessary for the enjoyment of either series. Dave Filoni is pretty good about that. Just relax and take any “big reveals” as an ordinary introduction.

I'm liking it a lot so far. The first two episodes were pretty slow, but the next two are starting to lead to something.

I really liked cutting back and forth between the two ships leaving, with Cassian first as a boy and then an adult. Well done.

Rebels definitely isn't for kids despite the animation. Whilst the first series does make the Imperials (apart from Kallus) a bit comically inept, the horrors of the Empire are always there. Once the Grand Inquisitor shows up, things get VERY dark.

Even the comic relief Astromech droid is not a cute, plucky sidekick type but an annoying jerkass who pranks the others. As Filoni says - if R2D2 is the loyal family dog, this droid is the cat.

Anyhoo, came here to post this and got distracted by Rebels! We don't seem to have much debate on this one, despite the fact we talk shit all the time... ;)

Not much happened in episode 4, and it's Star Wars so I keep wanting to write it Ep IV. LOL.

But the mood, atmosphere, and theme are great. Hell, they referenced the Rakata from the EU/KOTR, so now that's canon! They also brought in the ISB from the EU in a live action show.

I really liked the twist on Skaargard's character on Coruscant and the meeting with Mon Mothma. And the paranoia among the rebel cell.

Plus I'm interested in the CorpSec officer and his reaction to the debacle. He's an uber idealist (though in an awful cause), he could either be a major baddie down the line or even rebel himself.

Very much enjoying this one so far.

My bet is the CorpSec guy turns rebel.
The only other way his story goes now is trying to redeem himself in the eyes of the ISB/Empire and dying in futility after he's failed.

the safer trope is he catches up with the heros and for whatever reason (like the ISB kills his mom) surprises them by aiding in their escape... he still might die, but for the cause.

I still think the Intendent or whatever her title was that Ahsoka fought is Omega. Who else is going to be able to scrap a ronin jedi? The age and appearance match up a lot better than Temeura/Fett.
